It would be nice if they could change D.Va's laser pointer into a weapon. In quick play using her laser to point out things for my team mates has been useful sometimes, but the more I play competitive the more I wish she had a weapon. Even Mercy has a pistol in her secondary slot, so it's unfair that D.Va gets some way to deal damage as well.

Widen the distribution of ranks. a majority now fall between 40 and 60. Make 20/80 instead.

Fix it so supports and tanks are properly recognized by the ranking algorithm.

Make it harder to lose rank. You should be dropping after a losing streak, not after a single close game.

I actually would very much like to see this but I worry that certain characters might break it a bit or some characters would just never be useful for it. Tracer and Winston come to mind in particular as they can so quickly get to a backline and then get back without the other team making much of a dent on them. You could probably fix it by making the player grabbing the "flag" (whatever object needs to be retrieved) have to stay there to fill a meter, just like capping a point, before the flag is granted to them.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a mode where both teams have to capture the other team's point while keeping control over their own.

They should just have another play mode called Beta Play where games play and you gain XP just like Quick Play but they can implement all potential changes in that before finalizing the changes in Quick Play and Comp. They could use it to have the community fully test potential buffs/nerfs, map changes, and shit like 60 clientside mode and actually get the metrics for it to find out if it's working as intended for everybody or is breakaing the game.

Im having a real issue with losing ranks because when we're winning the enemy quits and it decimates you experience gain for ranking up, but obviously they don't quit if they're winning so the loss still hits as normal. Ive lost 10 fucking ranks from this.
The amount from a win when someone quits is less than a tenth of a normal win, so you could win a dozen matches where someone quits, and then a single loss completely wipes out all your progress. The automatic loss and threat of penalties isn't enough to stop people quitting mid match, i think it should give you even more xp so those whiney cry babies might at least see the match through to the end instead

They need to fix how rank is determined. Please throw a bone to the person who at least did the best even if their team lost. We also NEED a forfeit option. No coinflip for ranked at all. Whoever played the best takes it (faster cap or how long on avg the payload moves) it even shows time time taken but its never used to decide the winner.

I'd pay money to see a good player solo climb out of the 40 bracket to learn some tech. Solo is impossible when hero roles are so specific and fill a certain niche.

Cmon dude the point of class-based shooters is that each class is good at something, so obviously not all of them are equally as good at killing. a team deathmatch mode completely takes the strategy and possibility of varied teams coming together because everyone would just pick a character who specializes in quick kills like Bastion, Torb, etc. Support classes and most of the tanks would become utterly useless if DM were a thing.

i lost 7 of my placement matches (all solo queue) and placed 48. it's initially ranked based on your overall performance. of course winning more often and not getting stomped probably means you're getting lots of medals, but this is why support players are being ranked lower than usual: they can only get one or two medals per match. after that you will most likely hover within that bracket so long as you played your best in the placement matches. like you said, sometimes your team sucks, so why would the placement matches not take that into account? they actually do consider that so they rank you based on your skill compared to other players, not based on your win rate. that would be stupid as 6-man premades could totally stomp the opposition and get rank 60+ because they won 9 or 10 of the placement matches when really they belong closer to 50 like the majority of players.
if you lost all 10 matches and still got rank 50, it would mean you were earning the majority of the medals most of the time and those shitters would go to rank 30 or so like you.

So how do you think personal stats factor into your competitive ranking? My friend on the left here is 56 with a 65% win rate (there's a Mercy game not listed, he is not great with Mercy), and mine with just placement done is 63 with an 80% win rate, exclusively playing Mercy.

I'm not the greatest healer, or the greatest reviver (those lil meters show your percentile, I'm pretty middle of the road), all I really excel at over other Mercy players is pistoling.

While over on the left, for relevant tank stats, my friend generally ends up much higher than similar healer stats you'd think would matter on a support. High K/D, high blocked damage, pretty good damage and objective kills.

But he came out of placements a decent deal lower than me.

It's missing the sense of community tf2 had. Lower server count coupled with literally nobody using mics means it feels pretty sterile. You'll get some tf2 vibes, but it's not a good replacement.
Maybe once it gets up and running and they've gotten a couple of big patches under their belt it'll feel better. It's a legitimately good game that has a lot of potential, but it's no early tf2

From what I understood of the dev post, and various anecdotal evidence, your 'personal stats' or how they weigh into your score are more about comparing you to the averages established by players of that character. In which case my actual relevant stats (Healing, revives) would be pretty middle of the road, more befitting of a 50-55 ranking.

I'm kinda curious if my ranking is seriously overvaluing shit like k/d and damage done just because it's top percentage, while my friend, who is a very very solid tank player ends up looking less spectacular due to just having fairly higher end stats all around instead of one or two things being extremely high for the characters, relevant to actual gameplay or not.

Essentially I guess I'm curious if the stats are actually valued correctly per character, and if anyone else has any experience ending up higher or lower depending on their stats being nonstandard for a character.
