Well my old trusty G400 is on the way out. It stops reading input for around 3 seconds every few minutes making it really annoying to play any Video James. What would be a good replacement mouse?
My G400s just crapped out on me, so I went with pic related.
I love it. Looks great, and honestly I was tired of Logitech's crappy software. SteelSeries is better.

Cable is probably just loose OP. Buy a new one (it's a generic cable, multiple logitech mice use it) and replace it, I did it in 20 minutes with a youtube guide. I've tried plenty of other mice but G400>rest.

Anyone know anything about the Roccat mice? Kind of eyeballing one since they seem to be on the cheaper side, but I've always looked at price as "cheap is cheap for a reason".

I've held the G402 proteus and that's exactly what the button feel like, light plastic shit.
Can anyone comment on zowie mice? The lack of drivers and simplicity of design appeal to me but I'm not sure how they compare to other brands.

I always hated the stupid wing thing, and I still kind of hate it, but after having used a few mice with no wing and just a grip, I've come to realize how 95% of mice like that are badly designed so your thumb hits the surface of the desk and gets caught during movement if you're not careful. The stupid wing is a halfway compromise and not so bad after all.
To the people who think the buttons are badly shaped, buttons 4 and 5 have better placement than almost any mouse I know. They're easily reachable unlike say, a G400 which was my previous main. The shape and pressure needed to actuate are perfect. It's so easy to instantly find and press it. It's like the shape is specifically designed to make use of the force applied to it so that properly angled presses are easy while also protecting from accidental side presses.
I use G8 for sensitivity up, and G9 for sensitivity down, which are in great positions for that. You never press them unintentionally. G7 is my default sensitivity. It would be a good spot for a macro kind of key, but I don't like macros so I just make it (basically) an unused button, which is good because sometimes I feel like clicking something that does nothing, but that's just me. Mousewheel lock/unlock button is perfectly placed. Easy to reach but never touch it without intent, and the pressure required to activate is just right.

You're full of shit. The best feeling buttons are probably the avior but the G402 is by no means 'cheap and plasticy'. The G400 and G402 are virtually identical in how they feel to click.

They're kinda small tbqh senpai. I don't like mice that small, but I've never used one personally. Looks like a 100% fingertip mouse, which I don't like. I prefer claw grips where you actually have your palm on them.
I've tried a lot of mouses, so here's my input

Three g502 is pretty ridiculous looking, but fits snuggly in my hands both claw and palm grip.

For me it's not the wing that prevent my thumb from hitting the mat, but the shape on the right. I don't really like that it lacks any ergonomics on the right, but my mionix avior has the opposite issue where it's completely ergonomically shaped which makes my pinky and sometimes ring finger get run over by the mouse during movement if I get too comfortable.

I thought I was the only one who thought this motherfucking mouse was WAY TOO HEAVY. I kept seeing people say how they put the weights in it and thought how the fuck anyone found that to be a good idea.
I've seen people mentioned they got a mionix castor and some people say it's one of the best mice they've used. I look at the left side's lack shape like this \ and I'm turned off. If your thumb isn't pressed against the side with any force it falls down where it hits the mousepad and hinders movement to the left. Sounds like it could be uncomfortable for palm or claw users. That being said many people praise the hell out of it. Anyone used it?

open it up, write down the model number of the microswitch, and find an equivalent replacement. mice are hilariously easily serviceable. don't ever throw away an mx51_/g400_ due to a bad microswitch. it's SUCH an easy fix. hell, even the sensors are probably easily sourceable parts, as well

Just got a FK1 and the transition from a G400 was very smooth. I use booth palm and claw grip and the mouse feels well suited for both.
Increased DPI took a little getting used though.
OP here, went ahead and bought the G502 since the only complaint people seem to have is that it was heavy and that usually isn't a problem for me.

Macros will help you play games.
Clicking on a hotkey that your thumb is always resting on is much quicker than pressing a key on the keyboard. And plus all the possibilities multiple key/repeating macros offer.
