Stalker has good atmosphere but I always say atmosphere alone can't hold up a game.
The game just plays like a mediocre FPS, and the open world isn't really super interesting.
This would be all forgiven if it had the Deus Ex or Mascarade Bloodlines effect where the shooting is low-budget but the story and narrative pacing were really well done, but in Stalker they really aren't. The only thing that is well done is the horror and the atmosphere.
So I dunno, I guess this game only applies to a super niche crowd that gets hard off eastern european game design and atmosphere, but objectively it's not much more than a 6/10 game. I remember being super excited for this game when it was in development but it turned out being super fucking disappointing.

I liked the first game but I simply could not get into the second. I could barely run it on my pc when I first got it so after a few tries I gave up. When I got a new pc I tried it again and I got through the tutorial and first big stuff but always felt blah and never got past the first town. So never really did a playthrough. Sure, I liked the gameplay. I did several playthroughs using different builds. Stealth was OP but pretty fun for one go. I really liked the gameplay and story integration where you could earn special perks or affect the conversation if you did things like infiltrate the listening post without alerting anyone or even knocking them out. Or how the 2nd in command would respect you if you didn't let your presence be known in Italy. Or that you could get a perk for bluffing your way past dudes and not getting any neutral military dudes killed. etc. etc.
And I have a special place in my heart for final encounters where you can talk your way through it.
The only bullshit part of the game imo is that you couldn't avoid the 3 sector bosses and fighting them in combat. Not only that but you would get your ass handed to you trying to do 1 sector all in a row through the boss when really it was better to do all the missions up to the last one in each sector and then knock out the final ones all in a row.

Not him but I haven't played much of Clear Sky. I think there was a mod to expand the faction wars you do at the beginning of the game. Any of them are good with mods though, I really like Autumn Aurora for Shadow of Chernobyl, and you can pick from any sort of mods you want for Pripyat. Recently Call of Chernobyl came out which is a really good freeplay mod in which you can play as any of the factions, though I recommend that after you play the campaigns, at least of Chernobyl and Pripyat.

Bad news for you - Alpha Protocol is considered an excellent game by pretty much everyone that bothered to play it after the patches. There are only three groups that hate it: Those that only played it at release, those with shitty taste, and those that are trolling.
P.S. What makes an RPG good is its story, decisions and outcomes. That's why it's a Role Playing Game. Combat means literally nothing to how good an RPG is.

Sorry but there's no denying the fact that the game is still fairly unpolished on many aspects.
Lots of flaws to be found => of course people are going to criticize it.
It may be unique and great per se. That doesn't everyone will get an enjoyable experience out of it. You think the fact people don't like it is because they have bad taste in vidya but to tell you the truth, the player isn't the only one to blame in this affair.
Wouldn't mind a better sequel, that's for sure though.

This junk.
Two hours to get every ending, zero plot, zero character development, near-zero gameplay. Just a walking simulator with a gimmicky, sarcastic british voiceover and, apparently, some pretentious aspiration of being a commentary on the video game medium. Which might have been excusable if there was any story or background, and if it was free. But there isn't, it's still 2 hrs long, the game has no point and they want 12€ for it.
I got it for much less but I still fell for the hype.
Played for 2.3 hrs so can't I refund. Yes I mad.

My only complaint is the countdown ending. I get the point, I get that it's "commentary" "deconstructing" how a normal game would work, but it's frustrating and anti-climatic when there's just nothing.
