Wow, this game is really fuckingboring.
>>344179995
Yea i torrented it and its just walking simulator
a friend bought it for me back in 2014, and i didn't play it till this week
played it for 50 minutes and will probably never play it again
i'm sorry, friend that spent money on this game to give it to me for no reason
>>344179995
it is decent, just raw
>>344180229
No it's fucking stupid.
>>344179995
>>344181856
It's a game about surviving its a slow burn but once you get immersed it's really addicting
>>344181856
It's a survival game with none of the bullshit like zombies or crafting a car out of blood and semen.
It's probably not for everyone, sure, but I think it is a really well done and interesting game.
It's pretty much Hatchet: The Video Game.
>>344183282
>>344183092
I say it's stupid because the average human can survive without eating for roughly 7 days. You fucking die after sleeping with 1000 calories in you.
>>344183413
>I say it's stupid because the average human can survive without eating for roughly 7 days.
Humans can go longer without eating than that. It's closer to a month pretty sure.
It's taken some liberties, because I mean, 7 days passes in like an hour or less, days go by quickly.
But I agree, how fast your body consumes it's resources is one of the big flaws they need to look at again. A freshly killed deer should give you breakfast lunch and dinner for like a month at least.
>>344183413
extreme cold weather burns a lot of calories because your body is trying to stay warm so it uses that energy
>>344180128
so its fire watch 2.0?
>>344185048
the long dark is a few years old already
>>344179995
It has some good moments. Particularly not knowing aboutfluffy in the abandoned damn. Literally shat a brick while being attacked trying to open a safe.
I bought it on sale and still wanted a refund.
>>344185379
well do it then
Yeah it's boring and slow af, but at the same time it's beautiful and immersive. A story mode would help, but it's not gonna be finished.
Hmm, looks pretty interesting. nice artstyle, good survival eleme-
>offline only
Why not just play Ark or Rust? This game belongs in the trash.
>>344186045
Not every survival game needs online multiplayer.
>>344186045
Because those were made for multiplayer where you can have giant settlements and gangs and shit, Long Dark is about isolation and surviving alone until eventual death.
>>344183413
>begin this stupid
1000 calories with you on normal living conditions
You are living in the weather that is going to end the fucking world, its fucking cold as shit, your body burns calories like a motherfucker trying to keep up with the standard body temperature.
God damn is like /v/ dosent know shit about anything, even vidya
>>344183413
and you, the above average human, can survive a couple of months without eating :)
>>344179995
great comfy game
the survival elements can be annoying but the exploration and atmosphere is superiour
it is also a sandbox game as it stands, with story and NPCS coming soon
>>344186045
>Ark
>Rust
>belonging anywhere but in the trash
>get to cabin on lake
>now have unlimited water, food, and a hefty amount of wood
>almost completely self sufficient
Well it was a fun game I guess
>>344187905
>weather that's going to end the world
Americans don't know anything aboot cold weather apparently
>>344187905
>a heavy meal will keep you alive just 4 hours
Don't be retarded anon, the game is fine but it has its flaws. Should've just made berries and rabbits the only food if they wanted to drive that point down.
>>344188773
Are you at Mystery lake? Wolves will start to move in, your canned foods will degrade, and your unlimited water is limited by how much wood and matches you have left.
>>344187905
>This isn't ordinary coldness
>This is ADVANCED COLDNESS
>>344188773
>>344189371
>Welcome to The Long Dark —an immersive survival simulation set in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster set in the canada wilderness with winter approaching
I seriously doubt that the human body can last more than 4 days in the winter of canada without some sort of calorie intake
>>344189269
Yeah I get EVENTUALLY I'll run out of stuff, but the fish, water, and wood is going to last for a significant amount of time and that's basically the entire game right there.
>>344189760
When you're sleeping inside, next to a fire, bundled up in winter clothing, I think you'll be fine.
Outside I'm pretty sure if the cold was affecting you that much you'd die from it first.
>>344189760
I did 6 days without food or water during the winter in Nebraska just fine. As long as you can keep yourself warm, you'll be just fine.
>>344186045
>complaining about no multiplayer
I fucking hate millennials.
>>344190264
>fish
wolves nigger
a bear moves in too.
>>344190430
>millennials
Nice buzzword. I bet you read breitbart too, right?
>>344190430
Unless you were born before 1982, you're a millenial.
>>344190736
Should be 1987. The term wasn't even coined until then.
>>344190895
Actually it shouldn't be either. The actual generational divide is whether or not they were raised with the Internet available as a child. That's where the real social difference is, not some arbitrary year.

http://www.thatsfit.com/2007/12/28/cold-climate-calorie-burn/
>> If you get cold enough and start to shiver, you'll definitely burn more calories -- up to 400 an hour. Shivering is an involuntary tensing of the muscles to heat and warm the body.
>> Wearing heavy clothing will burn more calories -- the Army rations 10 percent more calories for troops sporting cold weather gear. But jogging in the winter with a couple layers on is not comparative to a soldier marching with winter gear and a heavy pack.
So it appears that the game is hardly stretching it reality.
>>344183092
>immersion
>oh there's a blanched skeleton a few feet away from this shelter
>oh there's another one down the slope of what was supposed to be a rescue headquarters
>hold on a second, how long ago did the apocalypse happen? 12 hours?
>>344191264
Yes, you burn more calories. But it still takes a while before you get to the point that your whole body is failing and you die, especially if you are a healthy person, like the player is. The game does it way too fast. Even unhealthy people have been able to go without food for weeks. Just a 10% increase in calorie burn is not enough to reach the games level of lethality.
>>344191543
>blanched(?) skeleton
Please only comment on games you've played, reddit
>>344191898
lad it said your plane was caught in a geomagnetic storm, there didn't say that's been the only storm in the area. You're also playing in the sandbox mode, not the upcoming story mode.
>>344191543
>If you get cold enough and start to shiver, you'll definitely burn more calories up to 400 an hour.
>up to 400 an hour
>>344191898
The game just skips the "Enough energy to live but not enough to go scavenging" part of food deprivation because that would be fucking boring as shit. Some shit has to be changed in survival games to make them fun to play.
