Nah OP gets it, in sp 2 and 3 were better experiences. 3 is literally a rehash of everything people liked of 2 and 1 with some stuff of its own. They are all almost in the same level tho.
And i really prefered halo 2 maps over the ones of 1 and Halo 3 mp maps were very forgetable but forge maked it the best mp experience.

2 at the top? I really don't get that. I only played Halo 1 and 2 but 1 was vastly superior. The graphics in 2 are incredibly muddy, even by the standards of the day, and there was little level variety compared to 1. Not to mention the ending was a complete cop-out compared to the fantastic climax of 1.

every single map in 2 was an instant classic. can you count how remakes of H3 maps there was, compared to H2 maps?
the SP was so much better (better music, more variety).
the balance was better (no OP AR start, button combos to separate noobs from pros, and even if you don't count glitches, there were more details than in 3. shoot the small circular engine on the ghost to instantly destroy it, walk to the left of an enemy with sword to dodge attacks because right handed, no splazer/missile pod to deny vehicle play).

I agree with you on mp but I'm going to have to stop you there in sp. Halo 2 had texture pop ins, linear scripted levels, all the levels were split in two to try to give the realization that the campaign was long when that is only the case in Legendary, Arbiter's missions were terrible, the weapon and vehicle sandbox was disappointing, terrible boss fights, cliff hanger ending, damage sponge Brutes, and broken flood. Halo 3's single player was an improvement.
