I wanted the atmosphere of SMT or the unit managing strategy of FE. It has neither. Then I thought it might have the social sim elements of Persona or a fun atmosphere at least. From what I've seen there are no social aspects and the atmosphere/story is focused on an indol culture I find obnoxious.
Other than being a turn-based JRPG (I think it is at least) it has nothing I would find interesting. Add to it the stupidity of some censorship choices, half-assed FE/SMT aspects, and a general art style that looks washed out and lacking personality and you've got a game that just has nothing I'd want.
TL;DR Just kinda looks like shit. Not disgustingly bad or pretty awesome, just mediocre. And with SMTIV: Apocalypse and Persona 5 around the corner I'm good.

Like first off, if they mention her being a gravure idol, pic related is the very first image that pops up for "gravure idol" in google image search. Given it's a foreign term, looking it up and getting this as the clearest representation may as well be saying she has to be in softcore porn.
The character also, even in the japanese version, does not want to do this. Their aspiration is to be a singer. It's very exploitative that she's being forced into erotic modeling as if that was the only outlet possible to advance her career. And she is very much forced into it, where a villain is outright holding people hostage, and rather than resolve the issue with confrontation, she has to appease them with their demands.
It's a really shitty message, and just using a different form of modeling to get the same positive aspect across (confidence) is a lot easier to relate to.

It's really not though, but it's not great either. This is a niche new IP released on a console on its last days. Combined with the fact Japan doesn't care about consoles besides MN and DQ. The average niche console IP sells around 10-15k over there. Even Omega Quintet only did 9k on its first week over there and that's another idol themed JRPG. And there's already talks of a sequel rumored in the works.

Demons are mirages, all based off either monsters, classes, and characters from FE, or stuff from the entertainment industry (a fair amount of movie references, like a creepy clown enemy called Nicklewise). Even your companion FE heroes are mirages. You can fuse them with enemy mirages and notMaca to power them up and change the skills you inherit from them. Battle system is straight SMT, with a very heavy focua on team building which is prevalent in both series. The game also takes place in Tokyo, and the Idolasphere (other world) has a themed heavily on both the occult and digital themes, ala digital devil story.
Weapon triangle, 80% of the enemies being FE classes, all named villains being FE characters, character and enemy classes being right out of FE, most wepons being straight from FE, level ups being random rolls FE-style, heavy focus on setting up the proper team and exploiting weaknesses, FE characters literally all over the place, FE music and sound effects, FE-style reclassing. There is also the Arena, which is a massive version the the arenas in FE, complete with gambling money on increasingly tough fights for more money, exp, and prizes.
And that is not mentioning all the little name drops and other little references.

Tsubasas idol character arc just happens to span most of the first 2 out of 6 chapters.
Outside of side quests there's hardly any pure idol stuff afterwards.
