Is there any way he can redeem his career? Or is it just a downward spiral from here?

>Keiji Inafune is considered by many to be one of the world’s leading authorities on video game concept development and design. He has been named one of the top 10 game creators in the world by Gametrailers.com and has authored several books. Inafune was employed at CAPCOM for 23 years where he was the former Global Head of Production and Head of Research & Development and Head of the Online Development Division. Inafune’s games generated large sales for CAPCOM over the years and included such blockbuster hit series as Mega Man, Resident Evil, Onimusha, Street Fighter, Lost Planet and Dead Rising. Inafune was directly involved in creating over 60 game titles in his career at CAPCOM and was in charge of over 900 employees. Inafune, after leaving CAPCOM, founded comcept Inc., a company dedicated to designing creative concepts. Inafune and comcept Inc. have an extensive network of the industry’s top game designers, developers, artists, engineers and producers to collaborate with. Inafune is also a frequent guest lecturer at industry events including Game Developers Conference.

>Inafune graduated from Osaka Designers’ College with a degree in Graphic Design.

Mostly the latter.

Can't say he's completely at fault here, but he still pretty much fucked up. Guy deserves to be haunted by the ghost of Megaman and those who had their promises broken. At least he released the game though? But fuck, there's so many controversies involved with it, I don't even know where to begin.

He's not even the creator of anything and tried to make everything but the game itself before the game even released, if anything, it's the fault of those who haven't bothered researching his actual background and having not divulged such information beforehand, otherwise, he wouldn't even have a quarter of the support he had. Most of the people who supported him were mostly people who were under the illusion that he was the creator of Megaman when that's barely the truth for the sake of just getting something like the Megaman games from back then.

tl;dr Megaman should stay dead at this point, there's honestly no going back now. Megaman as a whole was already milked beyond belief, if you want to play a Megaman game, play the ones that already exist, I'm sure you lot still haven't played all of the games under his name.

And for once in your pitiful life, actually bother researching who the fuck actually made your favorite games.
>>
>>344161751

He's the creator of Mighty Number 9 and Red Ash.

This statement has as much as logic as saying you shouldn't want to buy any more games.

>And for once in your pitiful life, actually bother researching who the fuck actually made your favorite games.

A lot of the info for old games is lost, not recorded, or in Japanese. For a lot of the NES Mega Man games, we have... Inafune as the only source. And oh suprise, it turns out that according to him he was the most important person there. And there were one or two times when Inafune said he didn't create Mega man, but he always did it in a "well I made half of him" which ends up being very confusing if you don't know the whole story. Plus every media outlet still refers to Inafune as the "series creator" for Mega Man. I don't blame the average MM fan for thinking he's the creator of the series.

THis guy is going through old interviews and translating them, shedding a lot of light on development back then.

Te kickstarter failed, but a Chinese Developer Fuze came in and funded it. So apparently it's still going, and Wikipedia says it has a 2017 release. But we've heard NOTHING about it. Nothing at E3. No screens, no updates.

My feeling is that Red Ash is another disaster in the making. Expect it to be released in 2019, full of bugs, and looking like a student project.

Also I'm not sure if we're even going to get more episodes. Inafune/Comcept/Inti seem to want to move past the game and pretend it doesn't exist. They might tell them to put all future episodes on hold.

How much stupid money did this documentary end up eating? Like 100,000 ? That's money that should go to the game.

>>344164408

Nothing wrong. But the bio there hypes up Inafune as some big time Game Creator, and calls Mega Man, Resident Evil, Onimusha, Street Fighter, Lost Planet, and Dead Rising as "Inafune's games".

Producer, CEO and illustrator perfectly sum up Inafune's jobs. He's never a director and never responsible for any of those games being big hits.

Why is he considered a con man? He seems more like an idiot that doesn't know how to manage money. >>344165452

Half con-man, half idiot.

The Con Man part comes from him doing very little to counter the idea that he created Mega Man. He didn't create it but he sure as hell profits from it. He even refers to himself as "Mega Man creator" in a video. Then, after MN9's release he's pretended the game doesn't exist. That's pretty scummy.

The idiot part is the horrible mismanagement of the project.

The best part is he denounced the entire japanese industry for using tried and true games instead of pushing the bounds of innovation.

Second thing he does is make a Mega Man Legends clone. And he made this comic too.

And both use Japanese devs, whom he previously said were shit.

I think purely from a business angle, he wanted to get some safe money by establishing two clone series to be reliable yearly cash cows for the company. Then expand past them.

Dina pre-dates Goober-gate. Dina was just a retard SJW who got into flame wars over politics and bullshit on forums, which is the opposite of what a Community Manager should do. She didn't want to change Beck, she was just drawing Beck with her OC character (which is an idealized version of herself).

>>344167029
His job was a producer, it was his job to make sure games sell.

So he noticed more than most people how japanese games were losing relevance in the west.

Problem is it never crossed his mind that western games are shit and western people dumb pigs that eat up what's offered to them. Also racism.

Can't blame him that he saw the fault in the japanese industry.

THANK YOU IGA MAN
>>
>>344170339

He wewent too far on shitting on the Japanese devs though. He acted like they were garbage, and Superior Westerns are just better.

A few strategies:

1. Why do some Japanese games sell well in the West? Resident Evil or Metal Gear series have always been huge. The reason is quite simple. They're serious gritty settings, with adult characters, with gritty art styles. I can totally picture why dude bros picked up RE5. So instead of abandoning Japanese devs, they should just adopt their games. Make them more like RE series and have them appeal to both Japan and the West. Make Western style games, but with the Japanese heart and spin on it.

Collaborate with Western writers and artists for new stories, settings, and gameplay. Game is made mostly by Japanese, but with some Western input.

So if anything, it's about preferences in story settings, and gameplay, rather than Japanese suck.

2. Accept certain series have limited appeal, and budget accordingly. DMC is always going to be a 2-4 million series. From does a good job with their Souls series since they know it will sell 2-4 million copies, and they have reasonable budgets so that the games are very profitable.

3. Most importantly: advertize. Japanese do not advertize in the West. Morons buy what ever they are told to buy. Hype sells games. Japanese devs failed to keep up with Western publishers when it came to marketing. Why aren't there tv ads like with Final Fantasy 7?

Iga is delivering. His game looks like a professsional video game at a modest budget, rather than the sloppy, unrefined student project that was Mighty Number 9. Iga is learning from Inafune's mistakes, and learning from successful kickstarter projects like Shovel Knight so that the project will go smoothly.

They're not trying to create a new series, or spin off movies, or adding stupid features no one cares about. He's just making a simple game. It looks like a 3D version of the NDS games. And that's all anyone ever wanted.

Simple changes like releasing it in a staggered format is going to make all the difference. Extra features that no one cared for are what delayed MN9.
