The cover mechanics are simplified, the combat is simplified and static, the abilities are simplified (just aoe ability spam up the ass), and the sole focus seems to be on the "ebin super units :DDD" over the actual armies you lead.
The Basebuilding looks extremely fucking simple (the narrator even says that in the demo "most of the base" is provided already), so the argument that basebuilding would ad some depth to the game is already moot.
The UI also looks like crap.
I am not even gonna touch the absolutely dog shit aesthetical direction, and stupid looking animations.
Anyone who defends this pile of shit is god damn delusional. The info that has been released thus far points to the game being worse than both DOW 1 and 2.
I didn't believe that it was possible to fuck up a sequel this bad.
All Relic had to do was to take DoW 2, increase it's scale to the point where vehicles actually work properly, and armies outside of marines and eldar can actually show off their numerical superiority and bring back some basebuilding elements, to armies to whom such elements fit, and vola, it would have been a good sequel.
But no, we get this shit instead. The worst aspects of both DoW 1 and 2 combined into a shallow, stale mess that seems to be designed to attract the moba audience.

Actually, the focus on "big spectacular battles" sorta is a problem (though there are bigger ones.)
The mainstay units of your army, seem little more than simple, spammable A-move backup dancers for your big, spectacular epic super and elite units that you focus your whole attention on. Because big armies=big battles.
Also, the shift in art style is also justified by the devs with the game having bigger scale.

The gameplay looks stale and boring, and aesthetic wise, the game just looks disgusting.
If they had gone with the aesthetics of the trailer, I might reconsider, but as it stands, there is nothing appealing in DoW 3.

Proper cover mechanics certainly aren't in, nor is suppression, heavy focus on controlling your squads and their abilities, garrisonable structures, focus on outmanouvering and flanking your opponent, or really, anything that actually made DoW 2 combat work the way it did.
Combat wise, DoW 3 resembles DoW 1 far more than it resembles DoW 2.
Only two things from DoW 2 that I can spot in Dow 3 is the hero focus, and global abilities.
