Tomorrow, I finally take the leap in generations from PS2 to PS3. Ahh my PS2. I remember when my dad got you from the local Rent-to-Own for my Christmas present. So many years ago.

Why the fuck would I want a PS4 when there's only one game that I want for it? There are about 40 to 50 games for PS3 that I want and they're all dirt cheap now. I'll be laughing my way to the bank with this quality entertainment for great prices. Waiting has its perks ladies and gentlemen.

I skipped the ps3/xbox360/wii generation and recently bought a used ps3 from a friend. Been having tons of fun going through the library of games.

The correct reason for not getting a PS4 yet is because the upgraded hardware version of the PS4 hasn't released yet.
Of course, the correct answer to all of this is to just get a fucking PC, but I digress.

A toaster pc can play all the gen 7 AAA games no problem.

Good luck OP, PS3 has a great exclusives selection. Consider getting a 360 too for the few nice games it has.
I do hope you have a decent PC to play the multiplats, even a modern 300$ PC is more powerful than a PS3.

You're right, OP. There's no reason to own ANY of the current-gen consoles yet, and to be perfectly honest, I am not seeing one appearing in the near future either.
I've had this mid-tier PC since 2011, and together with my PS3, I too have had no interests getting PS4. First I thought that MGS5 and FF15 would be the games to force me to it, but the former actually ended up coming to Steam, plus now Square's been pushing all their FF games on PC as well, meaning it's just a matter of time.
I still hope you're not throwing your PS2 away. It still has way bigger library than PS3 in the end.
PS3 is however the definitive MGS platform, meaning you can literally have ALL the existing main-series games on it. The MGS Legacy collection is a great way to get majority of them at once.

Also, if you got PS3 + PC, there's really no reason to get RROD 360.

I find that console only multiplats work better on 360, and it has some exclusives as well.

eh, I really have not seen a single game worth mentioning on any of the Xbox consoles, ever. And the few console exclusives I do have interest either are only on, or work better / equally fine on PS3, like the MGS series.
Still, a good 3/4 of all my gaming's done on PC nowadays.

The normal SLIM is the all around the best, for just playing PS3 games and using its features. The earliest versions of it can still be jaillbroken if you so desire too.
The Super Slim is built like a weak toy and has least of the external ports and features.
The old Fat is the thing to look for if you MUST have PS2 backwards compatibility. All the PS3 versions do run PS1 discs, tho'. There's also plenty of PS2 games in the PSN Store's Classic section.
