Is the PSP Go worth getting?
>>
the psp3000 is fine imo
>>
Yes, best home brew device ever.
Plus, with the failure of the Vita, memory card prices have dropped
>>
just whatever u buy make sure to play MGS Peace Walker
also you could just try a free emulator like
http://www.ppsspp.org/
haven't used it though
>>
Well the PSN store is closing for PSPs soon, its digital only, so unless you plan to homebrew it, no its not.
>>
>>344090683
Vita didn't fail you dickeater and Vita memory card is completelydifferent from PSP memory card.

>>344090878
Interesting to know, I do have some psp games on my psn account, but mainly just looking to home brew and play backups
>>

Jesus christ, nobody is buying them why are they still so fucking expensive?
>>
>>344091061
Pretty sure your PSP games on your PSN account can still be downloaded and installed onto your PSP if you use a roundabout way. Either through PS3 Or PC (Not 100% on the PC method)
>>
>>344091061
Every PSP model is hackable but the only ones worth getting are 3000 and Go. Go is only good for JRPGs and that sort of things, if you want action stuff like MH get a 3000.

Sony might as well just release an update with shit security. It will sell them consoles.
>>

PSP only got hacked so well because the very first version had zero security.
>>
>>344091258
Awesome, I will see how that process works, if the psp has some access to the store either way thats great

>>344091545
Hm, I see, well the first order of business was to play FF 1~9 on it then go through YS and play early DQ titles. I think I'll be okay, action games will come into usage abit later. I'll still check out the 3000 model though, this is mad exciting like buying a new phone or piece of tech
>>

>>

Somehow I kinda doubt this just cause their memory cards will still be overpriced.
>>
>>344090506
I got one, and I slowly started yearning for my psp3000 again.
I regret buying it.
It's too small, too fragile, and too fiddly to use as a game console.
And since you can't swap out the battery, actual time between charges is 4 hours.
The only nice thing about it is the game suspend feature which even survives power loss.

A;; data transfer and charging goes through one proprietary port.
If you lose the cable, you're fucked.

Just get the 3000.
>>
>>344092569
is't the charging cable a usb to mini usb? that isn't a proprietary cable

>>
>>344092468
Memory Stick Pro Duos were overpriced as fuck too though.
>>
It's the best PSP model by virtue of having the best screen. See that shit in the pic? The Go has none of that.

That being said, if you're only in it to play PSP games and don't care about hardware, save the money and use PPSSPP. PSP emulation is a miracle of the universe that even your grandma's computer can run.

the "genuis" of the vita memory card is that it is smaller than any other cheaper alternative

You can't browse the PSN store from a PSP console anymore, however you can download already purchased games directly from your PSP still.

You can also buy PSP games from your PS3 or vita, or best yet from your PC.

As far as I know there aren't any plans of cutting access to PSP games completely, such a move would require them to remove all PSP games and content from your bulk download list, and sony has never done this even for games that have had their license expired like marvel vs. capcom.

And even if they did nuke everyone's PSP library from their very own download list, you can just download the legit copy of the game online and transfer it to your PSP and it would work just fine.

tldr: Buy PSP games from PC and download them from your PSP's download list.
>>
>>344100260
there is a noticeable difference between 30fps and 60fps. having seen every psp model except the yuropoor exclusive one i can say that the only ones with noticeable screen issues are the 1000 and 2000.

just get the 2000 or 3000

2000 is cheaper and early models can be unbricked if you care about doing things like theme modding

3000 has a brighter more colorful screen. although there are complaints about interlacing, the truth of the matter is that you wont notice it unless you put your face right on the screen.

I'm of the opinion that the ergonomics are poor, but it is more compact. I think it is worth it to have a full size PSP model with a case, but that is up to personal preference.

If you want to play PSP games just go for the Vita. It's so much more comfortable to hold, has a bigger screen without any of the interlacing shit, and hell it even has a second thumb stick that can be customizable. Not to mention it being a vita with vita games.

But if you want to be a cheapscape I guess you can't beat buying a used PSP and 16 gb pro stick for 50 buckaroos and loading it with broken emulators, homebrew anime dating sims and free games from torrent sites.
>>
>>344101026
>16 gb pro stick
You can get a shitload more if you get one of the adapters that fits two MicroSD cards.
>>
>>344100645
Between 2000 and 3000, just go with 3000. The games just look nicer on it.
>>
>>344101181
Realistically speaking, you won't need more than 32GB storage.
I have like 20 psp titles on this thing and I still have 10GB left.

There's no way you'll be playing that many games concurrently.
>>
so emulating on the PSP is great but what about pirating PSP games themselves, is that an option?
>>
>>344100331
Thanks dude
>>
>>344101618
After you install CFW all you have to do is put your legally acquired backup games in a folder and it runs them like any other game.
>>
>>344101765
neato
>>
>>344101618
It's the easiest thing in the world.
Just copy .isos or compressed .csos to your memory card and your cfw will play them as if you bought them digitally.

You can even rip your own games if you open PRO VSH Menu and change USB Device to the UMD drive.
Connect it to your computer, you'll be able to copy the ISO on the UMD.
>>
>>344090506
I bought one about 4 months ago and it is a fucking incredible device. I've had a phat PSP-1000 since it launched and it has been getting kind of rusty so I looked into one of these as a replacement. Here's the breakdown:

Pros:
>Lighter and more compact than other PSP models
>You can connect a fucking PS3 controller to it via bluetooth and use BOTH ANALOG STICKS AND SHOULDER BUTTONS HOLY SHIT@!#
>You can get component cables and plug it into a TV and play it like a fucking console
>Automatically comes with 16 gb worth of space
>It can be hacked with hardly any effort

Cons:
>Can't use UMD's, not that you ever should have anyway
>The battery life becomes shitty when you are using bluetooth
>Screen is a tad bit smaller than other PSP models (barely noticeable though).

Basically, it's the greatest handheld of all time. Take everything that was great about the PSP and make it better and that gives you the PSP Go.
>>
>>344100331
>download

Fuck piracy. There's never justification for this.
>>
>>344101991
There's also a program that lets you dump the UMD directly to your memory stick from the PSP.
>>
>>344102064
Vita is better desu
>>
>>344102091
>there's never justification for this
I'd rather not pay for games marketed outside of my country and line the pockets of unscrupulous importers.
>>
>>344100565
This is exactly why I hated the Vita and PSP. Every time I bought one, I expected some actual games and not weebshit. Where are the WRPGs? Not on Vita.
>>
>>344102154
PSP Filer?
Yeah I know, but it's slooooooooooow as fuck.
333MHz cpu isn't good for filesystem tasks at all.
Even worse is you have the option to compress your ISOs into CSOs with PSP Filer, which already takes a long time on a desktop.
>>
>>344102259

This isn't because of piracy this is because the system is obsolete and unsupported. Keeping the PSP store running would probably cost them more than they made on it if they made anything at all the last few years it was up.

>>344100190
I started out with Freedom Unite on the Go. It's perfectly doable.
>>
>>344102743
It's not stupid at all. The PSP by itself would have been shit if it wasn't for the custom firmware. The Vita's library by itself hasn't been keeping the console's popularity afloat for obvious reasons. Once you can hack it, then MAYBE the Vita will be a decent handheld.
>>
>>344102743
>People hate the Vita now but once it gets cracked they'll "love" it. Fucking hate this stupid mindset.
how in the hell is this stupid? It's 'stupid' to have full control over your device and be able to play what you want? He might have not even been talking about piracy, if the vita was cracked then it would become the best emulation machine around. Get your head out of your ass
>>
>>344102585
I feel like this list is a complete list of every game on the platform and not a curated list of outstanding games worth your time.
>>
>>344103182
I never tried to justify piracy bud. The reason the PSP store is shut down and you have to jump through hoops to buy digital games for it has nothing to do with piracy it's because it's fucking old and the system meant to replace it has been out for like six years now.
>>
>>344103182
Yeah whatever, I bet you think used games are piracy too.

Don't even reply.
>>
I fucking love my PSP Go. Use it almost every day. The only thing that sucks is being limited to 32gb.
>>
Just get a Vita. It can play PSP games and you'll have access to the few Vita games worth playing as well, and a better screen and a comfier form factor (imo) and stuff.
>>
>>344103038
I just google'd it and did the first thing that seemed reasonable. I swear dude, it's like a two step process. If yours bricks then you are just one unlucky motherfucker.

After so may years the process has become virtually seamless. Nobody even bothers doing PSP shit anymore because everything you could ever want has already been accomplished (besides perfect SNES and N64 emulation).
>>
>>344102091
What? I wasn't talking about piracy, I was refering to downloading legit games you already own.

Worst case scenario, if they nuke PSP from PSN, you would still be able to play purchased PSP games either by transfering the backup games from your PC or downloading a legit copy of the game online, which would only work if you already purchased said game from the PSN.
>>
Stick with CFW 6.20 if you want your CFW to persist on reboots.

Otherwise you have to run the little CFW program from your memory stick again to play ISOs.
>>
>>344103267
Trust me, there's quite a bit of PSP games still missing from that list especially the ones that got translation patches. I was planning on adding them but never got around to it.

I have one, it's easy to home brew, small and light, and has good battery life. If you need portable gaming and like the psp and ps1 library you should get one. That's about all its got going for it. If you can get a deal for one there's pretty much no reason not to unless you're a poprfag. I got one for $70 and feel like I overpaid for what I do with it but nonetheless it is a solid little niche device.
