I don't understand why people make MMOs.
It's not like I'm going to play 2 MMOs, they're so time intensive.
I've been playing this for a little while today. It's painfully generic. The very coolest thing that the game lets you do is go into capture mode while you're mounted, like jumping from one car into another in a racing game.
But the monster variety is garbage and all your monster skills rely on physical stats so magic characters need to lug around 2 sets of armor at all times. I think 8 of the 12 monsters you can get in the first area are wolves with slightly different color fur.
If you don't care about the awful gameplay you should be playing The Secret World since the story/world is a hundred times more interesting and you get tons of advantages since it's the 4th aniversary. And if you want a monster catching game you're better off playing Dragomon Hunter.

Black Desert is a fun single player game pretending to be an mmo. Until you try to gear up and discover it's just literal grinding of mobs.
The Secret World has perfect atmosphere and quests but very very bland combat. Also still runs like ass.
Elder Scrolls is probably the best WoW-Clone atm that doesn't have a monthly fee. Not bad but boring as fuck if you are sick of wow.
GW2 is insanely casual and I loathe it because it has the Guild Wars name. Otherwise pretty polished if boring as fuck after 40 hours or so.

Every class I've tried so far has cool spells, lots of interactions between skills, complex rotations and charge spells.
Taming shit is the main draw, think of World Of Warcrafts pet taming but you can use them as mounts or combat pets to tank for you.
Only real problem is that it looks like they're following the blade and soul/Tera system of having almost no end game content and just slowly bringing it over from the korean version.

Well I been playing since the servers opened today.
It's not as bad as people are implying who probably haven't played it and are just judging form the videos, and their only mmo experience is WoW/FFXIV/GW2/BnS and expect every korean/chink grindfests to be on their level and free and have no microtransactions and survive on unicorn farts and the laughter of children.
The game has a cash shop, whopee fucking doo, who would have thought, and a vip service, woa dem jews want money? no shieeet. The main appeal of the game is collecting pets, right now there's 90 tameable pets according to the bestiary, more pets are avaiable via *gasp* cash shop I guess but they're subpar to the best tameable crap.
The only real problem for people who actually know their shit about f2p mmos, is they released some fucking old as fuck version of the game, the cap is only 25, there's only like 4 fucking zones and one main city? and only 5 classes. I'm not sure how more many features we are missing, probably GvG isn't here yet, there's no pedo class or archer class, from closed beta to EA/OB they nerfed mages apparently, for who knows what reason (forum complains or whatever).
I have yet to experience dungeons, but I've seen videos and they seem quite challenging on the hardest difficulty. Also people think the "action combat mode" means this game is Tera or something, it's not, it's literally just standard combat with the camera tied to your mousse movement (it's ass don't use it).
I don't think there's any other non instanced mmo coming to the west until revelation online, so this could be enough for anyone tired of BnS/ToS/Tera/RO or whatever your f2p mmo is right now. If this is not enough only options I'd consider are gook games like Moonlight blade, Monster Hunter Online, or Dragon's Dogma Online.

The only thing stopping MMOs from progressing at the moment is the fact that the global internet infrastructure is so slow it cant sustain real action combat, which means all gameplay must revolve around the tab target system. From WoW to Tera they all use some variation of tab target because thats all that servers can handle. That or they are instances like Vindictus which are not actually MMOs.

You are basically forced to group after level 14 or so.
The only class that can solo is Beastmaster and that requires you to reach level 30 to unlock.
