Spent weeks learning how to make a proper character rig for animation, it's coming along well now. Hopefully will be able to share animation tests soon instead of the same model over and over again.

I was then able to take that knowledge and invent methods to control different parts of the character (like the skirt).

I don't feel confidant enough in my math skills to learn programming and I can't draw for shit.

Only thing I am good at is music, but people who can make music are easy to find compared to programmers and artists.

My problem is that whenever I pick something up I always get bored and go the next thing, I am so scatterbrained and lazy. I can never finish things to the end. I just want to fucking kill myself to be honest.

I tried learning gamemaker once but I just started losing hope and mental energy to learn even the basics of game design.

I couldn't even finish my Doom map that I spent 40+ hours on.

If you know the 4 basic math operations then you can make any game as most engines do the complex math for you.
About art you can just make shitty placeholders. There is an anon here literally using numbered boxes for sprites.
And if you don't do your idea, no one will, unless you pay them to make it for you.
At least you can music, so that's something. In my opinion, music people are harder to find than programmers/artists.

I started working on something new yesterday actually.

You're an astronaut stuck in the HYPERSPACE.
Strange stuff is happening in the hyperspace and since it doesn't necessarily follow the rules of the 3 dimensions world.

It's a bit of jargon that hails from the term 'Script Kiddies'. Script Kiddies were hackers who didn't write their own code or only knew enough to change variables. They weren't very well looked upon in the hacking community since hacking was about using creativity to solve complex problems.

pic related is my code for generating rooms at random locations with random dimensions (working on a top down dungeon crawler btw)

this function is supposed to take a maximum x coordinate, maximum y, and maximum width and height parameters and return a map with a room that fits those conditions

the if-else blocks are my confusing way of checking to make sure none of the rooms extend beyond the edge of the map, as that would give me a list error. unfortunately something is happening and large numbers are making it past this "check system". my most recent attempt showed that the function attempted to make a room 7680 pixels high, and I've tried calculating it with the values (all the print statements) and I can't figure out how it got to a number that high. the values printed to the console for the error were

I pass 1 for roomNum, so it only creates one room. It works when I give it raw values instead of making it come up with random ones, so it's not that.

i believe the reason why you getting exploded height might be because some engines have y=0 start at the top instead of bottom like FLASH for example so you will have to rework that IF statement. idk what you are using tho with what i am assuming is python, i don't program in that language so i am stumped, sorry i can't help out brotha, best of luck.

Learn to use a debugger: step through the for loops and see what kind of values r and c are getting. For example, if your x_pos happens to be 99 and width happens to be 1, and the size of the array is 100x100, you'll be assigning a value outside the array and obviously get an exception.

Also, if the tilemaps is actually tiles (and not pixels), the function is completely broken. The width- and height variables seem to be in pixels but x_pos and y_pos seem to be in tiles.

In this case you'd be iterating the r variable from 31 to 7711 and the c variable from 31 to 97, and most likely try to use indices that are outside the array. Again, this is something that you could've figured out in a minute if you'd taken your debugger and stepped through the function to see what it actually does.
