What is everyone's opinion on 4k PC gaming right now? Who here has a 4k monitor?
144hz 1080p > 60hz 4k

I would really like to know if this is generally true or if people are just jealous that 4k isn't yet in their price range.
They say 120Hz is WAY better than 60Hz but (and bear with me here, not a troll) you can't see more than 60fps.

I play a lot of rhythm games so it's way easier for me to notice than in most other genres. You know how you mouse 'skips' when you move it across your desktop really fast? High refresh rates reduce that 'skipping' which makes tracking fast moving objects easier, so any action oriented games will benefit. It's also the source of the 'smoothness' most people report.
120hz vs 60hz is easy to see when in the proper environment, but admittedly 120 vs 144 is a lot harder, so i'll usually leave my monitor on 120hz to avoid any interpolation nonsense when watching videos or streams.
bump for interest.
thinking about building a new rig but I want it to be a single card 4k killer
should I just wait until next year for the new cards?

You can't kill something that is already dead twat
Is a 4k worth it now or do I need to wait?

This.

people are definitely just butthurt
I bought a 144hz benq and it's impossible to tell the difference. I should have bought a higher res monitor. not to mention even with a good graphics card, you're not going to hit 144 fps unless you're playing solitaire.

It depends on the kind of game you're playing. If you're playing something like Skyrim then a 4k monitor will look very nice. If you're playing something like Counterstrike, then minimizing motion blur is your priority. Lower resolution monitors have various methods of reducing blur, of which higher refresh rate is one, that haven't been added to 4k monitors yet.
I'm still rocking my 22'' 1680x1050 monitor
Not sure why I would need a bigger one

If you pay games where you can reach those framerates it makes a massive difference. I compete in counter strike and a 144hz monitor is essential.

144hz-1440p is better atmo
21:9 > 16:9
still waiting on a decently priced 21:9 1440p 144Hz monitor
