Actually it doesn't tell you where they are really, you just have an indication of which ones are nearby and if you haven't encountered them before (and thus have them in your pokedex to answer that question) you can only see the outline. You can however see some
leaves being moved on your map whenever there's a Pokemon frolicking around. Either I'm doing this wrongly or the mechanics are a bit dodgy, sometimes when I walk to such an area where I see the "bushes moving" on the map, I get an encounter, and sometimes nothing happens while it does keep happening in my tracking radius. Maybe someone else can answer this.
Also for you stupid faggots who are whining about "hurrdurr it's not downloadable in my country yet", nor is it in the Netherlands, I just made an extra New Zealand apple account, there should be an android workaround as well probably.

its basically the same as ingress. you have to walk to certain spots in like a 10-20m radius and then you can collect more pokeballs. and at random spots (you cant see from a distance unlike pokestops) there will appear pokemons which you can capture by throwing pokeballs, which is basically a motion like a bowling game.
