that's my problem with trails of cold steel right now. I can never guess what the boss is weak against or what bullshit it will deal to my party, so first run is always a trial run to check

i have started just checking in with a guide now, because fucking hell, its super unhype to go in a lose every fight the first time because you didn't know to prepare against faint or sleep or whatever the fuck

I haven't played anything past the pc heroes games because I'm a flat out weeaboo and won't play any of the others without japanese audio. Honestly, if it's anything like trails of the sky, if clock up or down exist, you could probably avoid half of the trouble simply by casting those on your party/the boss. I was surprised that a majority of bosses in tits were actually vulnerable to it.

I'm using Delay crafts and plenty of time arts in all my battles, but once the boss eventually gets turn in, they completely wreck my shit with an attack that renders one or two of my guys out of commision due to sleep/faint/confuse/vanish/seal whatever

My endgame party optional members were Kloe and Olivier. Kloe had 1114 ATS, Olivier had 915. both could've had more but I went in with some status def items because I wasn't sure what the final bosses would hit me with.

Kloe did a shitload more damage with an art than others did with a regular attack. I also ended up pretty much spamming death scream when there was more than one enemy on the screen, because they 923EP each. Over the final 2 bosses, I got hit once: they were a was a complete pushover. Loewe however caught me off guard the first time because I didn't expect his opener and almost got oneshot immediately. Overall, Estelle was mostly useless lategame, with my other characters just death screaming all mandatory encounters.

Honestly, there was only one reason to use Kevin apart from his CP giving craft; his glorious S-Craft. Going through the Renne fight a second time and cockblocking her stupid S-Craft was fucking satisfying, especially with another guard layer to spare.

He also helped make the Loewe fight less painful, and I'm fairly sure it's nearly mandatory to spam Zeram Capsules on his ass to survive Loewe's fight on Nightmare. Weissmann's definitely a pushover compared to Loewe, though, that much is certain.

I never bothered to do nightmare, I doubt I would even on a reply continuation file of the game using all my old gear, simply because the game length is so long (my first playthrough took 53 ingame hours, 80 realtime). The only real bullshit bosses in the game were the ones in the prologue when you're weak as balls.

Loewe fight was pretty shit tier even on normal, but spamming death scream, hitting every single motherfucker on the field with everybody, and earth guard/wall between hits made the entire endgame trivial if you were able to get the guard up before being inflicted by status you aren't expecting.
