A couple have extra game modes (Splatoon, Zelda TP)
Some just give you items you could get in game (Hyrule Warriors).
Smash Bros still has the most meaningful use for them, where you can store a trainable AI in them to fight. Gets boring quickly.
Basically, Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by having them do things in-game. If it's too major, people would (rightfully) cry about physical DLC. If it's too minor, no one would care about them (like now).

You can select 5 "performances" from the Squid Sisters.
You're taken to the Splatfest hub where the performance happens. Each song has their own unique dance routine.Callie and Marie each have an exclusive solo track each not found in the base game (one sister performs, the other sits on the stage and watches.) During the performance, your squid will wear the Splatfest t-shirt of the Squid Sister you've currently scanned. Sadly since you're selecting a performance, whilst you're free to move, you can't actually enter any of the buildings, or go battle in night time stages. You have to manually exit the performance which brings you back to the amiibo menu.
It's just a way for players to keep the Splatfest stage and the Callie/Marie t-shirts now that the Splatfests have ended. With exclusive music on top and a genuinely concert performance for idol lovers (I imagine these amiibo will sell through the roof in Japan.)
