You're going to be matched up against the same players repeatedly, and many of them will be much more experienced at the game than you.

Several reasons why such a low, low playerbase for a brand new AAA game is bad:
1) Community dropped it in droves, which indicates the game isn't that good. Or at least that its competitors are better.
2) Small community leads to circle-jerking and cliques.
3) It's a level-based multiplayer game. What this means is that the players who stuck around are mostly max level and will wipe the floor with new players. Skill doesn't matter, higher level characters will have an advantage.

This game is good. But seriously is still in beta. Lotsa bugs to be fixed and it really needs more regular balance patches. Story mode is cool at the beginning but super rushed on the other half
The playerbase is extremely low, even at really good times and since this is a heavily multiplayer dependent title that's a dealbreaker.
You should refund it and wait untill 2K does something about the playerbase issue and then buy it again, otherwise it will end up like evolve
also there's an ingame shop for taunts and skins which are super expensive and you can only buy some ass silver coins with real money
I tanked alot of hours into it because I played with alot of friends that were active at that time, now we don't really play battleborn anymore, waiting times are really disturbing
also the optimization of this game is super garbage, it really has extreme framerate issues with alot of people which is another reason why the playerbase is so damn low
It's fun, it's good but the playerbase for a multiplayer heavy game is just too damn low.
