Dark souls thread.

Best weapons for int/faith build, pyromancer, DS3

pl0x

Just take your favourite weapon and infuse it with the Chaos gem. Also try the witch whip.

Is the canvas talisman the best talisman for FTH builds in DaS3? I tossed a Great Lightning Spear to a monster and it did piss poor damage. I currently have 30 FTH.

I was told its the Saints talisman

>>
>>343999119
You have to heavily invest in FTH/INT just to get to okay damage, and 60 in said stat if you're actually going to build a mage/cleric.
>>
>>344000660
What about using pyro stuff with that?
>>
>>344000969
Get to 20-23 INT (20 at a +3 flame or better), then pump FTH to 20, then raise both evenly until 30/30 (or 40/40 if you don't the stats elsewhere). The reason you pump INT first is because FTH has no effect on scaling until your INT has passed a certain threshold.

Fuck. Didn't know that. Currently have like 18/18 int faith. Doesn't need too much tho to get int >20
>>
>>344001229
Adding onto this, if you're going 30/30, you can alternatively go 20/40 or 40/20 if you wanted to still use spells or miracles with minimal difference in pyro damage output. Just remember to upgrade the flame to at least +3 if you're going 20/40.

Yeah. Maybe into int, because crystal soul spear is a badass. Don't know if there's any op spells in miracles.

Anyone else here playing with mouse and keyboard? I know it's strongly adviced against but I got the game for just 5 euros on the sale so I thought fuck it
I'm almost 10 hours in and i haven't got past the second boss yet, I don't know if it's because it truly is that much harder with mouse and keyboard or if i'm just bad
I really like the game overall though, it just feels like such a real 'deep' world filled with cool stuff that's genuinely fun to explore,
>>
>>344003828
From five seconds of tinkering, it seems more comfortable than the keyboard controls of the first game. What's navigating the menus like?
>>
>>344002454
Sunlight Spear and Lightning Stake are both pretty good. They both come out really fast (the latter is faster), have near identical cast animations, and can cover each other very well while doing great damage. Sunlight Spear to bait your opponent to run in and then point blank them with Lightning Stake and laugh yourself to the bank. Tears of Denial also seems to buttravage people for some reason and the buff lasts until you hit a loading screen, which is nice.
>>
>>343998184
Infuse with the Strength gem, get your STR to 66, then two-hand it.

Bam, 99 STR bonus.
>>
>>344004040
Took a while to get used to, it was sort of confusing at first
Accidently hit and initiated a fight with the katana merchant in undead burg while trying to access some options in the menu which kind of sucked
I also had to download a mod to even be able to use the mouse, without that I would have no idea how to use the menu since you use the mouse to click on the options
>>
>>344003828
>doesn't think DS3 is bland and soulless
Your first Dark Souls eh?
>>
>>344005987
I'm talking about dark souls 1
and yes it is my first dark souls
I don't think a game as new as dark souls 3 would go for 5 euros
>>
>>344007084
Good lad.

After you're done with DaS1, I suggest you go for DeS and then Bloodborne.

Ignore the numbered sequels entirely.
>>
>>344004653
But how does that help with int faith build?
>>
>>344007139
Bloodborne looks really great but I don't own a playstation, would probably get it if it ever came out on pc
Also what makes the sequels worse than the first one? They seem to all be pretty acclaimed
>>
>>344007447
Simple, don't make an int/fth build in DS3
>>
>>344007448
Both DaS2 and 3 are all extremely mechanical and soulless, it's like they made them to be played by computers instead of actual humans.

It all feels very bland. Also both are extremely unbalanced for different reasons.

Try them out if you want, nobody's stopping you.
>>
>>344007595
Yeah no i think i'll take your advice. Besides, i have to finish this game first if i ever want to try the sequels which at this rate seems like it will take a long-ass time
>>
>>344007448
Dark Souls 2 is trash due to floaty control over your character, garbage bosses and areas, poorly placed enemies, horrible weapon variety disguised by them all being reskins, bad lighting, I mean I could be here all day

Dark Souls 3 is trash due to being the most linear experience of all time (which is awful in an RPG like this that encourages variety between play sessions), bosses generally dying in 10-20 swings due to having puny health pools, and embarrassing amounts of reused assets disguised as throwbacks. You'll find 3 Dark Souls 1 references every level.
>>
>>344007517
>Reading comprehension.
>>
>>344007139
Also ignore this anon. 3 is really good, and 2 has its merits. They're all good games, just not as good as DaS1.
>>
>>344007595
>>344008024
Both these anons are correct, but I'd like to add something.

DS2 has an extremely annoying input lag because of its combat mechanics. You see, heavy attacks this time around are performed by -holding down the button- which means that when you click for a normal attack, the game waits a bit to see if you're going to hold it down. It's awful.

>>344008097
>3 is really good
I played 1 for over 400 hours, 2 for about 200, and 3 for 70.
Zero replay value and the builds are all crap.

Plus straight swords dealing as much damage as ultra great swords while also stunlocking still isn't fixed.
>>
>>344008097
They're average games at best.
>>
>>344008024
>floaty control over your character,
God I fucking hate it when games do this, couldn't stand it in Gta v and Witcher 3. I became used to after spending 100+ hours in both games but it's still awful. Navigating dense areas is infuriating, maybe the walking looks cooler but it feels so bad playing it
>>
>>344008330
Yeah GTAV is a perfect game for reference. I wouldn't say moving around in Dark Souls 2 feels quite as awful as that, but it's pretty damn close.
>>
>>344008206
200 and 70 hours are still a lot of entertainment for the money anon.

3 was just patched with a lot of balance things. Dark Sword and Anris nerfed, for an example. Faith builds made far more viable.

Look, I agree that they are not as good as DaS1, but I don't get this attitude of DONT PLAY IT. Are you going to tell me you did not have fun during your 200 hours with DaS2? He's gonna tire of DaS1 eventually, same for DeS and BB. Would be idiotic to give 2 and 3 a wide berth because some anon who posted 200 hours in 2 said it was bad. Obviously it was good enough that you put in 200 hours.
>>
>>344008327
What games do you play to think DS2/3 are average?

Quit being a picky faggot and accept the fact that they are above average games that only stayed too far from DS1's formula and some people are okay with that.
>>
>>344008569
When there's 1 moment of fun and then 10 moments of frustration, at the end of the day I can't really say "but I had fun", anon.
>>
>>344008589
>What games do you play to think DS2/3 are average?
DS1
>>
>>344008589
>that only stayed too far from DS1's formula and some people are okay with that
Christ, is this what normies actually believe?

DS2 and DS3 are shit games not because they're different from the first one.

They're shit because they're goddamn shit on their own, for a variety of reasons: see posts above.
>>
>>344008589
Games that aren't mediocre in every aspect. Souls games can't survive on the basic sword-and-board combat alone. It's the fun boss fights, unique, intricately designed worlds, and character variety that tie everything together to make good games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Dark Souls 2 and 3 fall flat in these aspects. Dark Souls 2 tried to do its own thing and ended up being the antithesis to fun, Dark Souls 3 went down a checklist that was likely composed after Miyazaki revisited 1 again and the game is a redundant pile of crap, on top of not being challenging in the fucking slightest.
>>
>>344008837
So why'd you play for 200 hours? That's an insane amount of time to put into something you only enjoyed 1/10 of the time. That's multiple playthroughs, so it's not like you could keep hoping things would get better later on.
>>
>>344009276
Buyer's remorse is a hell of a drug, plus I had nothing else to play at the time.

Like hell I'm going back to it though. I'll still download the first one from time to time.
>>
>>344009339
Well, that's a bummer then Anon. I had fun playing it(didn't play for 200 hours though) and while I don't feel like revisiting it either, I got enough hours of fun out of it to warrant the 30 bucks I spent. I still feel it's better than most non-souls stuff, despite the glaring flaws. And some things it did better than any other game in the series.
>>
>>344009553
Dont mind it. There's always nostalgia fags who don't like any improvements, but the very first game in the series. It's always the same story. Always.
>>
>>344009276
>he doesnt remember the hype behind Das2

Not the guy but I kept myself in denial for like two playthroughs before finally realizing it was crap.
>>
Does 60fps still break shit in DS1? I have a headache when I play at 30
>>
>>344009776
You talk like people haven't already made good arguments against DaS2 and 3 in this thread.

This was my build for FTH. I rushed to 60m and then VIG and attunement. Cooping at champion I did about 1300~1400 damage per Sunlight Spear. Dunno if they messed with faith or not after patches

What covenant is worth joining in DaS 2 SotFS? I'm curently a bellkeeper and it's quite active but I would like to try other covenants too but the blues are probably as dead as in the first game

No.

It's because people made -solid- arguments against the games.

Meanwhile, all you're saying is
>nostalgia fags lol
>just opinions

The input lag in DaS2 is a fact. When you click, the game waits to see if you're holding down the button, making the game less responsive.

That is not an opinion, it's how the game works. And there are a lot more flaws like it.
>>
Did they fix poise yet?

Not that guy, but if you really think "it's bad" and "it's bland" or "it's linear" are arguments, then you need to reexamine your life. None of you shits in this thread are arguing your opinions, you're just stating them.
>>
How to find a will to complete game? I keep dropping it in the beginning.
>>
>>344010359
I see you can't read properly, so I'll post it again:

The input lag in DaS2 is a fact. When you click, the game waits to see if you're holding down the button, making the game less responsive.
That is not an opinion, it's how the game works. And there are a lot more flaws like it.
>>
>>344010364
Just drop it, it seems you don't like it so why force yourself to play it?
>>
>>344010217
>The input lag in DaS2 is a fact. When you click, the game waits to see if you're holding down the button, making the game less responsive.
Doesn't DaS1 do the same? I mean, it has to be able to tell whether you want to roll or sprint.
>>
>>344010457
>Doesn't DaS1 do the same?
Not for swinging weapons like in 2.
>>
>>344008948

>>
>>344010605
Linear.
>>
>>344010605
Welcome to v. Where everything is shit. Witcher 3, too, is already shit compared to 1.
>>
>>344010656
And DaS had shitty levels and DaS II had shit bosses.
>>
>>344010434
>that's how the game works.
Exactly my point. Is not a flaw, it's how the game works. For me, it felt improvement.

See, opinions. I can see why people would feel it "breaks" the game, but whatever rolls your boat man.
>>
why does it takes forever to auto summon as Farron Watchdog while Aldrich's takes like 5 seconds or less?
>>
>>343998184
Broadsword and Astora Gs have S scaling in intelligence for a crystal infusion. So for melee weapons u got moonlight and those 2. Court sorceror staff is my staff of choice
>>
>>344010605
i have no problems with the game except for Poison being the most useless debuff and the game being too linear.

I mean at least DsII gave me many options from where to go once i've reached Majula.

DsIII have like 3 branching areas at most.
