I'd want Tekken to have a bigger influx of SF players, it'd spice up the gameplay big time. I do agree with Aris here, the invincibility frames on DP is something unusual to this game and really fucks with the pressure. I guess time will tell how will it all play out, EVO should be very interesting.

Not that much of a Tekken fag, but this. I'd also wager that it simplified VF just enough, while still keeping the game altogether complex and deep enough for a dedicated, hardcore fanbase to pop up surrounding it.
I prefer Soul Calibur and maybe even DOA over it (not sure about VF) but there's a reason why Tekken is probably the most popular 3D fighting game series.

I'm not a hardcore fighting game fag so I'm unbiased and pretty open minded. Tekken is the hardest to sum up because I honestly think it's got every pillar covered, where as something like Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur have very obvious appeal to them. Juggling is not really the main appeal of Tekken, although it is kinda fun to do and joke about. I think Harada and his team just don't give a fuck, Tekken is fucking hilarious and strange like when the Japanese are at the top of their game, but it's done so in a way where westerners like it too. The joke characters are stupid but you'd probably want to keep them in the roster, some of the endings are fucking stupid but you kind of like them, reoccurring volcano and family issue tropes are also stupid but are somehow so badass and you want to keep seeing them, and the Big Bad riding in a taxi cab.
My absolute favorite thing about Tekken is daring to evolve character costumes in pretty much every game. Yoshimitsu is always changing in erratic ways where his designs are weird cultural stuff taken to the extreme (insect, squid, samurai hat, demon mask, skeleton, tentacle, zen monk). Yoshimitsu is the embodiment of Japan.

Tekken is fun to play for casuals and pros alike. It feels good to mash buttons and you can quickly figure a couple of things out this way, which is fun. I spent a lot of time as a kid just mashing buttons with my cousin until we found a character we liked and then we started learning them a bit more.
It is at the same time crazy technical, so if you get into the deep end it is fucking deep.
I'm practicing wavedashing right now after going to a local (casual matches, no tournament) where a friendly fella taught me a ton of cool shit with the Mishimas

It's not about the looks.
It's about how long you sit there with a controller in your hand unable to have an effect on the game because you're locked into some fucking two person juggle combo for 10 straight seconds.
SFV does well with just short, burst like combos and don't take half your health bar (unless you fuck up big time).
