1500+ hours as spy. Used to play competitively ages ago. Dead ringer was a crutch watch for retards that doesn't know how to be flexible. Dead Ringer should ONLY be used as a surprise element, not as the only watch you use.
IW and C&D are the best watches. Your Eternal Reward is a great knife, helped save me and give me a few extra seconds to stab in competitive play (Hearing the stab and seeing the death tag is always faster than someone reaction a few milliseconds later and telling his team). Vanilla knife is also great.
Best knife currently for me is Big Earner since the speed boost and extra cloak is super good for escaping after a stab.
Vanilla revolver a best, Ambassador is nice but I never was good enough at headshotting to use it often. Currently use Le'Tranger the most for the extra cloak and cloak gain with each shot, having those extra seconds of cloak and escape potential is great, downside is less kill potential and you h ave a rougher time taking people out if you're caught.
Spy is the most fun class to play for me and I don't give a shit if shitters tries to tell me otherwise.

Honestly, I only used dead ringer because in the servers that I played, everyone spy checked all the fucking time. Like really all the fucking time. Like fucking shooting at fucking nowhere randomly. When there are fucking projectiles and bullets everywhere all the time, the dead ringer is really the only shit that is worth to be honest. I still were rather shit at aiming compared to other competitive spies who mostly used ambassador.

It depends. The game is balanced like shit, and sometimes their team is simply better, unless they have just a bunch o players doing the work on the team and you can deal with team, if the team are overall more balanced towards one side, you'll have a very hard time carrying. Also I've seen a lot of shitty luck towards the defensive team, especially because if you die by a random crit as defense sometimes you need to wait like 20+ seconds JUST to respawn + the time it takes to go back to the lines.
The bad part about this it that the custom servers are usually limited and they are so crowded that even the fuckin admins of the server gets kicked or you simply can't find a server at all. I don't blame f2p, but Valve for ruining it and encourage them to try something different at all. Just at that tutorial, it reminds me of the tutorial of Insurgency: it barely tries to shows you can you can do in the game, but I think they improved it or something, the one in tf2 keeps sucking balls.
Improve the fucking tutorial and create a fucking achievement for it and maybe you could get into something. Idle servers exist just like the shitty balance but it would be something.
Brazilians made me fucking pissed at the game, though, they are a especial kind of players even when they are premium.

You think that is bad? Look at rd_asteroid and cactus canyon. That payload map convinced me that Valve can't create maps for shit. They probably got Upward decent out of luck. Almost every map they made are just Goldrush 2.0 in so many areas. The worst no-goldrush one would be Badwater, especially the third point due to how chocky it is and also the retarded spawn for blue that does not advance and you need to walk like a nigger to reach it. So fucking stupid. Most of Borneo is better than most Valve maps besides Upward.
rd_asteroid is mostly to socialice now, it's so fucking dead. And in the current state, a part of the map is not even simetrical (the entry/exit on the floor next the medium health pack on the room of the robots A). This game went down the shitter.

Most of the time, the problem is not the class itself but the people who use it. It works both ways, because people play like shit, you don't need to be really good as spy to do well in pubs, but because the one going spy are THAT bad, they can't achieve fucking nothing at all most of the time and against a decent team a spy gets crippled really hard without the stock or the new Big earner. I swear, those shitty players are so fucking bad and unpredictably that they are basically a walking random crit. Shit need to anally go towards them for them to achieve something ingame.

Falloff damage is a thing, and the ambassador lets you kill some classes in just two shoots sometimes. If close range, it's still good for the extra burst of damage, if at medium/long range, it lets you do shit that you could've not achieve with any other weapon, like dealing with plently of sentry nests being protected by pyros or just dealing damage and fuckoff to hide and piss them off that they lost 100hp. It's not always the best but it still pretty good.

Balance. Being able to call vote to remove random crits (due to most weapons, I seriously doubt they are going to do this unless they balance everything around this new concept). Even a bunch of official test servers with random crits disabled would be great if it last at least a week. Matchmaking without the crits gives you hope, but "hope" and "valve" are not the words you want to mix.
