I've never played the classic mega man games, but I don't think this looks any worse then them based on footage i''ve seem of them and this game.
It basically seems like it's the same game with similar gameplay and a similar concept, just with better graphics, dashing, and a new art style.
Seems like people are only shitting on it because they wanted it to be better rather then by judging it based on how it compares to the game it's based on.
That said, I wanna actually be able to back up that assessment by playing the games, so that's the best way to play the first few mega man games?

To be honest, not really.
The gameplay feels like a slightly below average Mega Man game, but everything else around it is complete garbage. Level design, music, characters, graphics, story, dialogue, MOST boss weapons, presentation, ect.
The whole dashing into enemies is a neat idea on paper but it just doesn't work as well as you think it could. It just results in either breaking levels since you can dash forever (like the underwater parts) or just making it so your platforming is imprecise or just making you crash into shit.

I had to really scoop my brain to remember the conversation, but it was around the time that the winning call design was announced. I basically said something along the lines of making her be a blatant Roll copy in a jacket was too on the nose, and that she could be visually similar but do like pigtails instead of one ponytail so it's not THAT much of a ripoff. Dina and her cronies started screeching about how pigtails were just for perverts and pedophiles, and I defended myself by saying that if the robots are supposed to be kids, there's nothing wrong with giving them to her. I then got very openly banned, and in a PM I was told I was an absolute pervert who should be lucky I didn't have any of my personal info on my profile.
