Direct action is not always the best way. It is a far greater victory to make another see through your eyes than to close theirs forever.
>>
>>343973757
For an old wise woman that's a very naive way to look at things.
>>
Fuck Kreia. She's literally the writer's self-insert Mary Sue.

>>
>>343973842

Is it really? Surely it must be better to change someones mind than to end their life
>>
>>343974190
In the star wars universe where everything is an absolute and very few people are capable of lying then sure yeah it makes sense.

In the real world where you can't convince everyone to like you and in many violent altercations it's shoot first, it'd be very naive to think you can talk your way out of every situation.
>>
>>343974190
If you kill your enemies they win?
>>
>>343974465
The quote is talking about how it is more of a victory to wolololo your opponent than to just simply kill them and possibly make more enemies, instead of giving the impression that your way is the way to go for all undecided people.
>>
>>343973757
Fuck off, bitch. There was nothing you wouldn't complain about.
>>
>>343976614
Thanks, Trudeau.
>>
>>343974465
It's more because she has the power to literally twist people's minds and force them to do what she wants. I mean, if you're capable of that, it's a hell of a lot more elegant than just lightsabering someone.

>>343978413
Untrue, she does praise you for manipulating your companions effectively (or at least telling her that you're doing so), as well as listening to her lessons and being a good student.
>>
>>343979028
There was literally no way that you could act that ultimately led her to being satisfied. The best you could hope for was a pat on the back now and then before the final grade of F then a duel against floating lightsabers.
>>
>>343978413
her teachings are all about being aware of the potential consequences of your actions, and learning to manipulate.

basically it is all about showing you are willing to learn.

You can even gain influence with her even when you say "then I'll guess I should also view you as expandable too"
>>
>>343979383
you really weren't paying attention did you? and killed the Jedi master?
>>
>>343979523
Light/Dark, didn't matter in the end. You always fought her because she always saw you as a failure.
>>
>>343979383
This, she was so grating. Reminded me of my worst teachers. I had no sympathy for her, but still wanted to impress. When I did earn faint praise it was honestly exhilarating.

Fuck, I hate that bitch.
>>
>>343979595
Yep, you didn't pay attention all.
>>
>>343973842
In a universe where you can kill someone instantly with the force or with a light saber, it seems to be the more adult thing to do. A person on a power trip is just a very large child playing with 'toys'. Being able to persuade someone to see your way is far from being naive. It's not always possible, and it's not always the best choice but it is the better of the two options. Better to have another ally than just another dead foe.
>>
>>343979738
Great way to refute a fact, man!
>>
>>343979595
Did you even pay attention. Fighting her is the final training she intended for you, which is a Sith thing also.
>>
>>343979383
>There was literally no way that you could act that ultimately led her to being satisfied.
In some situations, sure - like the object lesson on Nar Shaddaa; but if you were paying attention you'd've realised she was literally forcing you into those two options so she could teach you the lesson.
>>343979595
>Light/Dark, didn't matter in the end. You always fought her because she always saw you as a failure.
...yeah, you didn't pay attention.
She only sees you as a failure in the Dark Side ending, as having ''learnt nothing''
In the Light Side ending, it's the restored Council that she sees and denigrates as failures

>>343973757
Now that that's settled, can we talk about who the best characters are of each respective role?

I vote Kavar as the best Master; he's a Guardian, a hardcore badass (unlike that simpering wimp Zez-kai Ell) while still being a clever political adviser (not something you'd necessarily expect from a Guardian) and you have that whole old-war-buddies angle with him, especially if you're a Guardian yourself which you should be, because it's the best class

Also, Handmaiden is best girl

Guardian is a shitty class. You miss out on a ton of xp and attributes by never being able to pass the skill checks with T3-M4
>>
>>343981828
I'll just always remember Force Storming countless dudes like they were nothing in the return to Onderon quest.

KotOR 2 gets the whole character progression thing very right. You start wrecking all the goons after spending time in the game while the actual threats get more and more beatable while still being challenging.

In terms of characters, I always liked Atton and Bao Dur for some reason. Both have moments in their dialogue where they snap a bit and start talking edgy about all the shit they've done and seen.
>>
You have failed me. Completely and utterly.
>>
>>343981958
>Always two there was; no more, no less. A Master, and an Apprentice.

>>343982258
You just have to have a decent INT and take the 'class skill' feats (which you get plenty of, as a Guardian). There aren't really any skill you have to max at every level except Persuade.
I always take Guardian now because I find it makes the character building more interesting
>>
I only remember about KOTOR2 how hand-to-hand and lightning powers carried me for the whole game and how lightsabers were useless in my hands.
I am not sure how did that happen
>>
>>343982625
Yeah but the apprentice is supposed to rise up and kill the master, ensuring that the Sith remain governed by the strongest. The master never just gives his life up or offers leadership freely to the apprentice. That apprentice needs to not only have the strength to take power but the drive and ambition to do so.

You gotta complete her unarmed training curriculum then talk to her about her mother once you've gained enough influence.
>>
>>343983314
She's not trying to train you as a Sith, though, my point was just that the other anons were right and she's forcing you to kill her both as a final test and a final lesson to spur you to go out and spread your teachings/lessons

>>343983330
>siding with Vaklu, ever
On the upside, even though you kill the best character, he gives you the most awesome fight in the base game (equal with doing Dantooine as a first planet and running into the brick wall that is Vrook)
It's a pity that you're so powerful by Onderon that he's not as much of a challenge, but facing him in a lightsaber duel is always great.

>>343983721
Nope, gunslinger Jedi are fucking great, and at least in this game they can be as overpowered as everything else. My grey Jedi Exilefu is always a gunslinger.
It's the weapon customisation/upgrades that really make it worth it, there's nothing like finding a really good weapon from the Mandalorians and then just maxing it out with upgrades.
Blaster pistols for life, though

>>
>>343983330
>>343985729
More explicitly, to turn her into a Jedi, you have to complete at least one of her hand-to-hand duels so you fight naked, then ask her about why Echani philosophy dictates it's best to spar without clothes (because she wants to bang you, obviously) and then tell her you think it's better to train while burdening yourself so she puts on her mother's robes, and then ask her about them, and I think pass a minor Influence check.
Then you just have to complete sparring with her, and ask her about her mother again and if you pass a higher Influence check she'll accept your training.
After you first find out about her mother, you can ask Kreia about the possibility of training her for some interesting dialogue, and even though I've always done so I'm not sure it's critical to be able to train her

>Christ, what is wrong with all the ladies the Exile knows?
Don't even go there, anon. They simply can't handle the raw Charisma of Jedi Jesus

Handmaiden is at least doing it for your own good, though - she doesn't think anything good can come from a Sith, so she doesn't trust Visas not to eventually stab you in the back for your kindness. She was originally supposed to try and kill Visas over it, preemptively.
Then again, if you have really high influence with both but higher with Handmaiden, Visas will back down pretty graciously.
