I think it's reasonable. You're gonna spend quite some time with a fighting game character if you main it, they are usually designed to have a memorable outfit, and maybe you'll also grow fond of whatever little bursts of personality they have.
Guile and Shantae are still shit-tier though.

I've found that fighting game characters have at least some charm whereas more fleshed out characters in vidya aren't too interesting. It's a less is more kind of thing.
