It goes both ways though, people who hate it because of the fanbase and people who love it are high on the spectrum while people who feel indifferent are low on the spectrum.

You can do something good in ue4 after a few minutes (look at that mario or zelda done in unreal engine), because it was made to be easy to work with, most of the effects and stuff are not created using other stuff as base, like the old methods of using the particle system to animate grass wich consumes lots of resources, but the grass react to everything, similar to crysis physics.
