Technically, it is theoretically possible to clone humans using our current technology. However, no actual experiment has been run using human subjects to confirm that the processes we used to clone other primates, mice or sheep would actually work on humans.
However it is true that current illogical societal views regarding 'playing god' are preventing these experiments from being run.
The development of artificial wombs is facing similar ethical road blocks. Scientists have successfully raised human embryos to the age limit allowed by the UN in an artifical environment, however the current limits prevent research into whether current methods could extend beyond that age as the fetuses had to be terminated once they reached the pre-defined limit.
Long story short, ethics is a bitch. Though I can kind of see where they're coming from with the artificial womb tests due to the direct use of developing human subjects I don't agree with the restriction on cloning research that only deals with embryos.
