This is a game where people can get banned for going against their forced meta and having anything besides the same lane setup every game. I played Smite, LoL and DOTA2, and while I'm a shitter in all of these, DOTA2 and Smite at least allow you to do things differently. Have 3 people on one lane if you wish to split the farm, etc.

The reason we havent gotten pitlord yet is because icefrog has no fucking idea what to do with the hero. He's been the most reworked hero in the entirety of dota, though dota 2 has been out for quite the while so that may have changed.

As someone who is master elo in league playing it, I don't think league is dying exactly but the queue times for high elo is pretty bad. Autofill made things slightly better but they are using so many variables that it probably messes things up. Before dynamic queue it would just throw everyone into the champion select lobby and let them figure it out. The queue times are more about if you want to be guaranteed a lane still or have to figure it out with 4 people.
I can get on my silver / plat elo accounts and get in a game in 1-5 minutes but on the account I play ranked mostly on it takes 15-20 sometimes.
I liked playing Overwatch while in queue for league (I play 1-3 games in queue) but competitive mode disappointed me because of how long and drawn out it feels sometimes.

I blame Riot constantly reworking characters. Old players don't want to come back to League because they've become disjointed with the meta and are unable to compete. The champion matchups they once knew are all wrong, the item builds they know are all outdated and the items themselves now probably do different things. Hell, the champions that they once loved have probably been reworked into something completely different.

There are still no replays or sandbox mode, the new client is still in the works but still runs on the same dogshit and there is no solo queue and there never will be.

The game is hemorrhaging players and they have no fucking idea what to do since the only thing they've seen out of the game is growth.

The final nail in the coffin for me was the removal of devourer, it was the last fun thing in the game that allowed for varied playstyles, jungle TF was my favorite

I once had a look at some planned visual updates for characters who desperately needed them, like warwick.
They were, mostly done, really simple to do. Like, any intern could finish them in about a week.
But they were there, collecting dust. Basically every original character had one. and they released maybe 2 or 3 per year.
Again, an intern could finish these in a week, but we were not allowed to work on them without express authorization from the head of the design department and the guy answered to some other guy who NOBODY knew.
