Some memes just write themselves.

“I think personally Star Fox is a really fun game if you sit down and play it. I think, for example, an elementary school kid who plays it without any preconceived notions, I think it would be really fun for them."

>Star Fox Zero is a really fun game if you don't have any preconceived notion that good games also exist.

At which point he's still wrong.
>>

He's saying that children without nostalgia goggles for their "childhood memory games" are going to like it because grown-ass men with childish minds refuse to accept the fact that the game they remembered playing 15-20 years ago is nowhere near as good as they remember it to be.

It's literally the "kids these days don't know REAL GAMES. My childhood had REAL GAMES, their childhood has shit" mentality that older generations have for younger generations.

A silly problem for me is that the fact that you can replay the stages at anytime, instead of limit the number of stages you can play, if they stick the n64 planet progression, it would have some sort of replay value, but my main gripe is the damn motion controls. Otherwise the game is a fun ride.

“Pikmin is the kind of game that you have to play maybe three times to get the full effect, but you know, people don’t have a lot of time, so they just clear the stage and just move on. Games are becoming more of a consumable product, and it’s getting harder and harder for people to let a game to sink in and enjoy leisurely.”

Seems pretty based to me. I refuse to buy into the "Miyamoto is a hack" meme. He's definitely right about VR.

Star Fox Zero is literally one of the best games on the WiiU.

Miyamoto is still a hack though. He got lucky with Zero.
>>
I don't understand what demographic they were trying to appeal to. My friend has an eight year old and a 5 year old and they can hardly adapt to the controls for Super Mario Galaxy or even Super Mario 3D World. The oldr one can genuinely do good at Mario kart at 50cc, but is still hard. They prefer games on the tablet though they love sucking at Wii u games all the same. Point being I can't see a young kid mastering the gyro controls in SF0.
>>

I agree whit you, we need to let games sink in and stop trying to just beat it

Some kids are different than others. My friend's little brother got the hang of Splatoon pretty quickly and he plays a lot of Mario Kart. Everytime i'm over he asks for my suggestions on 3DS games because he's interested in the games I play. I usually just tell him about Nintendo made stuff because the other games I play are not really "kid friendly".

You know how awkward it was to convince him not to watch me play ZTD?

I think it's that Nintendo wants to appeal to kids as they always have, but also can't completely and totally ignore the fact that the data indicate the majority of WiiU users online are between 18-35 so they try to put a modicum of difficulty in just to satiate that age-range.

Of course, similarly anecdotal, I have several second cousins and the two that I know have a WiiU are 6(g) and 10 (b) the boy has more interest in it and seems fine at playing them but has asked me to help at several points in a couple of different games.

Honestly, I can remember doing the same with my cousins when I was more or less around his age. "Hey cuz I can't beat this Water Temple boss can you help!" and thats how I got through my first playthrough of Occarina.

Maybe the point is actually to make it so siblings/friends/cousins work together at it?

>“I think the main thing that we need to think about before even considering doing something like that is to determine what we’re going to make available from the beginning,” Animal Crossing lead designer Katsuya Eguchi told GamesBeat through a translator. “I think that’s key in deciding whether we do something like that. If I find a business model that works, however — that works for Nintendo and the end-user — then I can’t say that [free-to-play] is something we wouldn’t consider.”
>“When you look at our main audience in Japan, they are definitely that audience that has smartphones,” said Eguchi. “[They are] women in their late teens and early 20s. They are certainly playing free-to-play games on their smartphone.”
