In witcher 3 you stumble upon 2 characters with only a few minutes of screen time who might be gay. One guy only mentions it offhandedly if you press him, and the elf here dresses like a woman if you talk to him enough. none of that shit is forced on the player, and its a couple minutes of game time.
in mass effect 3 all the characters are bisexual and ashley becomes a tranny. you spend the entire game with them. same in DAI, with characters openly being homosexual and chastising a homophobic culture. its not the same shit m8.
not only that but the writing in bioware games is self consciously inoffensive. all gays, minorities and women are angels, white men are bad. no characters who arent white are allowed to have any flaws unless theyre "good" flaws like killing a mysogynist. in witcher 3 every character has deep flaws, regardless creed, orientation, gender, etc.
one company is clearly using politics for marketing purposes, while the other is just doing it to include some uniqueness and realism to the game world.
