Back when it was still EB (Electronics Boutique) I was playing Legend of Dragoon and was stuck on the final boss. When I was like 10 years old I went to EB once and started reading the strategy guide and decided to jot some notes down, so I went to find my mom and grab a pen and some napkins to write on.
The second I started writing stuff down, one of the staff members ran over to me in a panic and took the guide out of my hands. He told me something about it being totally illegal for me to write things down from the guides and that I needed to leave.
I was so fucking embarrassed. Every time I went to a store and read a book I was looking over my shoulder to see if someone would catch me doing something wrong.
I still loved the store, though. I never grew tired of browsing through all of the obscure PC games that I would never play.
