The first was an incredibly shitty attempt at a GTA clone. Sleeping Dogs managed to be far better.
I can say without one doubt I have zero interest in this.

It's actually pretty accurate to most social or political movements that gets overrun by trendy, ignorant hipsters that care more about their outfit than their message. It's a totally oblivious old person's take on internet culture, which honestly I find a little endearing.
I appreciate them designing the game such that you don't have to murder anyone. Being a spirited young person trying to stick it to the man and free the sheeple is fine for what it is until you start fucking killing innocent people. That part made me laugh during the E3 demo because it was this drastic shift in tone from mischief to murder, but it's nice to know that's optional.
I truly doubt Ubisoft's ability to make an interesting open world that feels alive and actually interactive beyond "Drive to This Location to Start the Mission". I hope they make the city engaging to play in.
I was thoroughly disinterested in Watch Dogs 1 as I saw that shitshow coming a mile away. This time, however, I'm actually curious.

Looking at the 30 min Pre-E3 video made me think. They were all like "Oh, yeah, we fucked up. But now we promise this one is better!" I don't get it. Why would anyone who though the first game was terrible would give them a second chance. There are so much video games coming around each month for past years that i still have been meaning to catch up too, and they have the audacity to think I would drop $60 for a company that which i already wasted my $60 on.
With zero buzz around it, i am happy this is not going to sell gangbusters like the first one. But hopefully it does break even so Ubisoft won't have to layoff their employees.

I haven't played this kind of open world game since GTAV, and every once in a while they're relaxing to go through, so I'll pick it up. I didn't play the first game, though; the revenge story was a different level of cringe for me. This modern Hackers approach actually suits the ridiculous idea behind controlling everything. There will no doubt be moments where you shake your head, especially thanks to the San Francisco setting, but the game looks like a guilty pleasure that's competent.
As far as AAA shit is concerned, you're probably better off picking this over Mafia 3, anyway. Yet another year without a Rockstar game.

GTA IV, which coincidentally is also one of the best GTA games in my opinion and a lot better than V. I agree with your previous post, though, I liked Watch Dogs a lot and I'm disappointed to see the direction they're taking the sequel in. I liked Aiden more than most people because I felt like he was an anti hero that you weren't supposed to identify with, you were supposed to think he was a hypocritical prick, but in hindsight I think that was unintentional and I'm giving Ubisoft too much credit. What I've seen of Watch Dogs 2 seems to confirm that suspicion; they want a character that the kids will think is cool and relatable, and they're going to take that shitty cringe worthy Defalt mission from the first game and base 90% of the sequel on it.
I mean, I'm still going to give it a try. I'm a sucker for GTA style games, with Driv3r being the only one I can say didn't entertain me in some way, shape or form (conversely, I think Parallel Lines was fucking great, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on that front) so I have pretty low standards. Mafia 3 is taking very high priority over WD2, though.

Aidan's moral compass was questionable at best but it made sense the characters backstory and gameplay.
