Not sure why people believe this. World wars didn't start out just like nothing, they escalate, and countries aren't going to allow themselves to be conquered and sacked due to society not liking nukes. Many countries would rather take everyone with them (in fact, this is Israels official stance)

Current society is mirroring the world from the mid 30's, and people are worldwide calling for race, religious etc wars. On top of that, a sudden rejection of globalism when the current generation is married to it (as is almost all modern technology) will not go easy. You don't unbind something tied in a trillion knots with ease, there will be tragedies, wars, terrorism and pain with that break up. The world right now is about 10 times crazier than it was 15 years ago and is approaching some dangerous shit
