Never played it or the original before. Played RE2, Code Veronica, RE4 and I liked all of them.

I'm not a fan of RE or horror games as a whole. But REmake (and RE4) are the exceptions I enjoyed. REmake is also one of the first games that really made me think that advancements in graphics could improve immersion and gameplay. Which it did.

This. I used to not believe in this meme, but no people are suddenly loving games like Grand Theft Auto 4, dark souls 2 and the old god of war games to name a few as if they were the bet in the deries when, two or three years ago, they were deemed as bland.

I didn't have a PSX growing up but had an N64 and that's where I played RE2. Had a PS2 and played RE:CV there. Played RE4 'remaster' on PS3. Just never got round to playing RE1 or the REmake, never had a gamecube either.

I played the 0 remaster on PC without really ever playing the original on GC (maybe an hour or two) and it blew me away. The textures look fucking fantastic, there's some shittier ones but for the most part that game looks fucking great on PC.

I can only speak for the forums and stuff I visited back when REmake came out. But I remember huge debates about how 'the original was better' and 'fuck this shit being on gamecube'. Like most games, REmake seemed to gain a bigger following over time.

Depends though on how much you like the idea of zombies reviving as Crimson Heads, I know a few that prefer the original over REmake because of the Crimson Heads.

I don't think they will do that - I'm pretty certain REmake 2 is going to be pure pandering to the old fans - but with that said, we won't know the quality of it until it is out. THey are appearantly gettting a secret director who worked on RE2 (not as directer though, it's not Kamiya - but Kamiya dropped another name who it could be, don't remember the name) along with the dude who helped with the REmake and REmake remastered

Absolutely. The real question isn't if, but when.
It's THE definitive RE experience. I almost want to tell you to play the original PS game first before the remake, if any team has ever legitimately designed a loveletter and true remake of any game it's th eteam that did the REmake.
Play the REmake, if you're really into RE play the original or DirectorsCut and you'll see how much love was put into the REmake. It does everything perfect. New enemies, new mechanics, new bosses, more information that clarifies and ties the series together better, more puzzles, way better graphics and sounds, and it does it all without trampling the orignal story or destroying the atmosphere. It could almost be considered it's own game, you could play the original and the REmake and you'd be playing two very amazing games.
I can't gush enough about how fucking amazing the REmake is, but you almost HAVE to play the original to really fully understand how great it is.

it's more angsty and intense because of the save-system and needing to explore, but also having to plan ahead so you don't waste ammo or take dumb risks - you can actually trigger enemies to appear that you didn't need to fight if you do stupid things "let's check that room again!". Also, if you want to unlock good stuff, the game requires you to save less.
But personally I think all the parts with Lisa Trevor are pretty unsettling as fuck.
