Besides Phoenix Wright, can anyone else think of a game where you had to take part in some sort of legal dispute. NWN had a trial, but I'm drawing a blank on others.

Dragon's Dogma. Getting the guy an innocent verdict got him to sell you a handy cloak, and it also contributed to getting the gold idol.
Then again, since money is rarely an issue you could get him declared guilty and buy it from his now-homeless daughter.
