I will never understand those who defend the manga's "art" on the other hand. It is truly terrible, and I'm not even referring to those which are clearly scribbles, and were "fixed" later on. Unfortunately, it hasn't been done well at all. The fighting game idea is cool but if I had my way I'd get the Yakuza devs to make a Part 4 game. You've got a big open world and random shit happening in it. The main cast is all playable and you can roll out with them as a squad. Depending on your group composition you will encounter different quests. For example if you are playing as Josuke and hanging out with Okuyasu and went to the cafe you would be able to spy on Yukako and Koichi's date.
The combat would be very similar to the Yakuza games, with the heat moves replaced with stand moves. So if playing as Josuke, you can trap people in walls and shit, or if playing as Okuyasu you can zip around really fast by cutting space.
Probably the hardest part of the game would be the pacing, I want it to reflect the slice of life nature of the manga at the beginning, but it would be difficult to do that and maintain the player's freedom in the world.

First you have the Hunter exams to serve as a tutorial. From there, you should be able to go literally anywhere. Go to Yorknew and join up as one of Kurapika's bodyguards... or help the Phantom Troupe by becoming Uvogin's replacement. Go to Heaven's Arena and try to climb as high as you can. Save up enough money to buy Greed Island so you can collect rare, gamechanging, server affecting loot. And finally, you might have DC as endgame content.

Chimera Ant arc is so damn preachy and melodramatic for no reason and then the manga art went to shit. It really shows how much Togashi does not care for his shit series. Or how Gon's "Super Saiyan" moment is portrayed as a tragedy instead of a triumphant victory. Or how the main characters never really face off with the antagonist (Greed Island being the only exception), with arcs resolving in more complex ways. Actually the idea of a "main character" has become blurred in HxH recently; Kurapika seems to be the focus of the DC arc, with Gon and Killua having almost no screentime.
