>when the game has very solid gameplay mechanics and art direction, but the level design, writing and damn near everything isn't
>and the game doesn't even let you properly apply the mechanics to their full potential

idc what anyone on here says about this game. I'm playing it and having fun
It's a fun game, sucks to be you.
>>343767852
I thought level design was fine. Wasn't the most lived in sandbox ever, but the open ended tactical stealth was about as good as it gets except maybe Arma if you're autistic enough for it. Just a shame it's a lowsy metal gear game. Regardless of Konami pulling the plug, all the villains and dialogue was hokey as shit, even for an mgs game. Or maybe the realistic setting and grim tone was just more incongruous with mgs hammyness than usual. Either way, good game, bad mgs game.

Actually, Skullface was an intimidating evil fuck in the cassette tapes. It's just that it's like the cutscene dialog was written by an entirely different person that never communicated with the other writer. Cutscene skullface is a fucking disgrace.
I recommend anyone playing this on PC to try the trainer that gives you a lot of customization on what you can do in yhe the game
Biggest feature IMO is the ability to play every mission in subsistence mode.

The cassettes were a huge issue for me. In an open world game, having something to listen to while you hunt for animals could be really nice. But instead, you can only listen to them on the helicopter and there's a shit ton of them.
>>343769490
Who?
>>343767852
>In Outer Heaven, men become demons
>See Big Boss's downfall
>have a blast shooting ruskies, fultoning puppies and anything not bolted to ground
>go to africa to save lil' nigga orphans
>build them a nice school and an animal platform too
>meet buddies from years ago
>>343770372
That isn't true at all. You can listen to all the cassettes in game.
>>343770981
Oh, what am I thinking of then?
There's just something really comfy about being told to kill a target in a heavily guarded outpost and being able to do it anyway I want. Like even though it's repetitive, it's a good repetitive where I'm completely happy with doing it over and over again.
So if Big Boss never actually went Nuclear, and never did anything to make them Not Our Kind of People, and the game never addresses the Sins of the Father can we expect Norman Reedus to not actually Keep Coming?
>>343771050
Well while we're on the subjects of gripes, why are the platforms so far from each other? I know I could call a chopper to swing me to any of them but that still feels like an unnecessary thing.
>>343771050
I'm not sure. Either way, I know you can listen to the cassettes while playing.
>>343771318
So the PS3 and 360 don't have to load too much at a time.
>>343771318
Yeah I can agree with that. Usually I'd just pop in a cassette on the drive to one.
Look up 80s Afghanistan. Let me know how many thriving villages you find.

I'm sure it had inhabitants that aren't Soviet soldiers and prisoners.

All those high hopes I had for it. Jesus Christ

Just make it stop. Every time I watch the trailers, I just want it to be before the game came out again.
Was there ever gonna be another MGS game after V and should I be excited for it or scared?
>>343772271
Apparently there will be a sixth game.
>>343771318
If you get in your box and sit in the loading zone in the platforms it teleports you to which ever one you want
>>343771713
>>343771942
>>343772237
To be honest, no game could live up to these trailers.
I'm most bummed about not being able to interact with mother base beyond pouring GP into it and beating up the staff.
I wanted to visit the mess hall, annoy the R&D boys and have shooting competitions with Ocelot and his gang

Konami said they were hiring people for the next title. Konami have been so consistently shit on ever since all this I wonder if they'll still really go through with it though.
Does Ground Zero ever go on sale anymore on PSN?
>Get to mission 31
>Destroy Sahelanthropus
>Oh is this the end of the game?
>Nope, for the rest of the story please repeat these missions again with modifiers
Thank you Mr. Kojima
>>343772779
But Kojima isn't gonna have any part in it? I thought he owned the rights to the game since he made it
>>343773060
Kojima doesn't own any of it. Not the name or even Fox Engine. Konami has it all.
>>343773345
Just fuck my shit up already Konami
>>343773060
>I thought he owned the rights to the game since he made it
No game maker has any rights to any of their works, sadly.
This is why if you were really smart, you'd get into comics, make your own comic series, then adapt that into games. You'd have full control then.
>>343772779
Hey do you want a timeline?
Konami says they're hiring new people.
Kojima's contract expires and is out of the company.
Metal Gear Panchiko announced last month.
That's what they were working on, there is no hidden MGS project.
>>343772449
Thanks, didn't know this
>>343774629
No, the context of them saying it definitely implied it was a new video game. They may have backed off at this point though.
>>343774629
Why would they hire a full game development team for some outsourced CGI graphics?
>A TRUE BATTLE GEAR!
What did he mean by this?
>>343774629
They were hiring people with experience on video games to make another game. Pachinko isn't even handled by the division of the company that they were hiring for.
>>343775343
We'll find out in MGS6 surely.
Game was poorly balanced. The enemies were too weak to the arsenal and abilities you had. And level design made sneaking up past them too easy.
>>343775662
Don't call me Shirley.
