Does anyone else that 2D is more comfortable than 3D?
"Comfortable" is a buzzword.

Now people are just good at making games

yeaaaaaaaaaa, it is the end times. I'll live under a rock playing my grand strat till the end
I honestly think the Mortuary alone in planescape is far more better looking in anything in fallout 4 even if that's an odd equivalency.
Plus shit like Waxworks will always retain its charm.

Yes. Although PoE has a pretty good 2.5 blend.
With fixed camera angles the artists know exactly what the players are looking at so they can design the lighting and shit better

In top-down or isometric games like pic related and RTS' yes I agree, but of course for the modern third person or first person rpg/shooter it's impossible to accomplish so I suppose we leave them out of the question. I think the amount of care and detail put into good 2D is unparalleled and creates a very unique, handcrafted aesthetic. Just look at the different aesthetic vibes between say Warcraft 2, Age of Empires 2 and Stronghold. Then at their 3D successors. They all seem so lifeless and devoid of charm.
I like both
