ITT: Vidya series that fell from grace
Grace is hardly a term to describe a game that is centered around swinging your proverbially swinging your dick around, ala over-sized guns and a buzz-cut. More like, it peaked during the 2.5d generation of DOOM clones, and the last attempt to revive the dead franchise was met with less-than-stellar reviews.

Duke never really had grace, he had one thing. When people talk about the series, they never talk about Zero Hour, Time To Kill, Land of the Babes, Manhattan Project, Critical Mass or the original 2D platformers. It's always 3D and laughing at how bad Forever was.

Was Duke 3D even really that good in the first place? It's memorable for its spectacle (more novelty interactions and scripted events than Doom) but in regards to pure gameplay, most enemies are hitscan and the level design can be really confusing with annoying puzzles that slow down the game (like the button combination locks).
