happened to me with starcraft 64
in starcraft 64 if you beat all the missions then you got a special n64 exclusive story mission. I was a huge starcraft fan so i wanted it. got to the last campaignes final few missions 3 times and each time my saved data got erased. Once I did it by accident, once my brother did it by accident, and once the games save data got wiped from just having a poor connection.
Finally i beat all the missions though and got the special mission. It was awful and it gave hints that kerrigan would be "cured" of the zerg. I was hoping that it was just fanfiction tier shit and that blizz wouldnt actually go in that sort of direction.
Then sc2 came out and i was sad.

Happened to me last November when I played MGSV. The game froze during an auto-save and it ended up corrupting my save data after I was forced to shut it down. It was just right after I finished Chapter 1.It seems odd they killed off Skull-Face at that point after all that built-up in Ground Zeroes.
