What is the best definitive emulator for ps1 so far?
I've always played on epsxe and I never bothered much but I've been wanting to play some ps1 games lately so I'd like to know if the most recent build from epsxe is the best one out there or if mednafen is better and why it is.

It's a lot of shit actually.
Z fighting is where bits of graphics which are overlapping constantly alternate between being in front of each other. This happens because the PS1 has no hardware Z buffer, which records how close things are to the camera.
There is also vertex jitter. This is were corners of polygons appear to jitter between different pixels on the screen. This happens because the PS1 has no hardware support for floats (decimal numbers) at all.
And then there's texture warping. This makes textures close to the camera or at sharp angles deform. Again, this is due to the PS1's hardware (related to float support)
All in all the PS1's hardware is really shitty because it didn't have the advantage of coming out later with better hardware like the N64. Keep in mind that the Saturn suffered from the same problems (though, texture warping was less drastic due to quadrilateral polygons)
