Is it better or more fun to play the Standard Sphere Grid or the Expert Custom sphere Grid in Final Fantasy X Remastered for the PS4?
Fun is not using the sphere grid at all, or trying to get through the game with minimal grinding while occasionally remembering to manage the grid.
Here's my opinion on both grids:
>Standard grid allows you to get 255 of every stat and 99999 HP with little to no deletion of any nodes that offer minuscule points
>Expert grid allows you to get abilities earlier but you will at most get 45000+ HP and 255 of every stat except for the last one you decide to max out. You'll end up with 220+ for the final stat. Its possible to get 255 of every stat and 99999 HP but you'll have to start deleting and replacing nodes.

Almost everything about the HD version is visually worse than the original game. The characters especially. Their hair, outfits, and faces are just worse.

I agree with original version looking better. Observe the way the ground textures in the HD version are amped up while the wooden beams are lowered and look like absolute shit. The original version respects the equilibrium of texture quality they need to maintain for visually appealing graphics.
The remastered version is clearly a botched attempt at making it look better. I don't know how people can defend it. Hopefully The Zodiac Age will be able to present a clear improvement

You'd have been better off playing XIII on PS3. It looks better and has nicer-looking hallways and a prettier cast
Only real difference OP is where they start on the grid. In the classic grid, they all start at the section that fits their "role," ie. Lulu does black magic, yuna white magic, etc.
The expert one starts them all in the middle, so you have more choice in how you wish to build them. You could do a melee Yuna or casting Wakka, etc. I just played through it recently, and I ultimately ended up giving them all their usual roles anyway, so it didn't really matter.
As for how many of each type of node their are and your max stats, it's irrelevant. Once you get to the monster arena you can farm HP/strength spheres and max out your whole party in an instant.

XIII is trash with the whole only playing as one character at once and lightning is the single worst protagonist of all the final fantasy games. The playing as one character was forgivable in XII because the battle dynamics were different and you had mobility, XIII is the least interactive of all the games.

They added a fuckton of blur, depth of field, and ambient occlusion to the HD version, and bloom. It doesn't look as awful as the other remasters sine the faces were left alone but it's not that good. It's very muddy.

By endgame, you can do everything with every character. On the normal grid there are locked nodes that prevent you from moving between different sections of the grid early on, expert has a lot less of those.

It's more challenging to not use the sphere grid. You have to get inventive to finish bosses.
Abusing Items and Rikkus Overdrives is fun.
Though you should also ban Trio 9999 and Aeons, because they make shit too easy.
You can literally Trio 9999 + Attack Reels your way through whole the Game.
Where is the fun in that?
I did a no sphere grid Auron solo run (you have to allow Steal and Use, otherwise you get nowhere).
Though in that configuration, BFA and Dark Aeons are literally impossible.
Classic and Expert grid have little to no impact on anything.
In a normal run you never need more than 9999HP, including Dark Aeons and Penance.
What's fun though is to put Yuna on Aurons track, Auron on Yunas track and so on.
You end up with a hilariously stupid Bahamut that deals way more damage with simple Attack than with his crippled Overdrive.

There is no point in maxing out Accuracy and Reflex. And anything above 185 speed is useless as well. It wont give you more turns. 85+ Luck guarantees you can hit anything. Nobody needs critical hits.
So you can cut a lot of corners without loosing anything of value.
And as soon as you have 50k HP you can just use a HP Pill to get the 99k HP in Battle.

Always pick Expert grid, even if it's your first playthrough. Standard grid is almost a straight line, and the source of most complaints about X's leveling system. Expert grid actually lets you customize your characters to a reasonable degree.
