I bought it 3 times. How did it even work on old gen was and still is beyond me and then it took it to whole new level with next gen not to mention PC which is even more gorgeous and we have mods. I loved it on every single platform and sank so many hours exploring Los Santos. Heck when First Person was added I spent 2 hours just taking screens. And then I discovered Rockstar Editor which was like new game. Online has flaws but at the same time it's still going strong so clearly it has something going for. Playing it on 3 platforms and I always mailed Trevor for some reason. Maybe I liked to drive around with him. Sandy Shores was gold mine.

Did it live up to the hype? Not at all for me, it's just rehashed GTA3 with more bells and whistles, minor graphical changes and a new setting between the games
Too many games are rehashed now, it's why I stopped playing CoD after MW2 and it's why I'm not going to play the GTA series any longer

The MP was a huge mess because they didn't put enough time into it. Honestly? It should have been a separate game with a separate dev team. It should have been an MMO with tons of content. They should have went deeper with the economy and customization aspects. Instead, we got hackable listenservers with an unfulfilling, shallow Sims mod.
Not a horrible game, not a horrible GTA game, but definitely a letdown.
