The characters aren't terrible, but they are for sure forgettable. No one really had any growth except a little bit with Garnet, and even then it's not much.
Combat was meh. I hated trance. A few characters had better attacks in trance, but for the most part it was useless.
It was a throwback in some aspects, but mostly just in the emphasis on crystals and the more medieval-esque world with airships and whatnot.
I was left feeling really underwhelmed this playthrough.
