Noctis is the only playable character, the whole system is created around him, you can give your party orders but it's more similar to past FF's.
You don't have to say them to attack, run or help you, they do it anyway.
The orders are more like special talents, attacks or moves they can do but you don't.
And the game has no QTE's in regular fight, the big button prompt is just the parry button, you can choose to clear it out of the sreen.

Well, it's an open world fantasy roadmovie with locations based on the southern US, Renaissance Venice and modern day Tokyo.
Honestly, that might not sound to impressive to you but it seems to be basically my ideal game. I really hope it's gonna be as good as it looks.

Except it isn't. The airstepping alone has tons of depth when you toy around with the weapon switching, for example.
Did you know that you can airstep cancel greatsword's air attack? I bet not.
Also the fact that you can activate certain attacks at will after performing different actions like dodge roll and stuff.
There's not a single arpg currently that comes close in terms of combat to FFXV. Of course it will change once Nier:A releases, but until then it's the fact.

You can win DMC games by stingering your way out of the enemies as well, which doesn't mean that the game doesn't have in-depth mechanics that require presition and timing.
You have those in FFXV, particulary air-stepping with the greatsword in the Platinum Demo which can't be done by usual means and require very accurate inputs.
