I recently played some Wii stuff because that's all the use I get out of the shitty thing.
The Wii part is hacked too, so I was playing some NES games. Casino Kid is fun but fuck that dried up cunt Martha, bitch is insane.
Oh wait I played a bit of splatoon, but then got bored.
I've gotten plenty of fun out of my Wii U, but this is clearly the year when Nintendo stops giving a single fuck about it, like they didn't even bother with a filler Mario sports title or anything for 2016. Luckily the 3DS is there to pick up the slack.

Wasted potential due to low sales. Contrary to popular belief, the Gyro aiming is really good. Disappointment at the droughts, it really needed some games to fill in the gap.

While I can't deny Nintendo fucked up on many things, from naming to shitty marketing and region locking, I love the Wii U. It deserved to fail but it's still not a bad console by any stretch of the term. Free online, backwards compatibility and off TV play are a blessing. Still, I had a lot of enjoyement with it so I'll hold it as one of my favourite consoles ever.

I want it to be a handheld. But even then, I don't care about the NX. The NX basically destroyed any chance of Wii U discussions going. Honestly, I hope the NX won't be backwards compatible. So people will be forced to buy a Wii U or an expensive PC for CEMU to play Wii U games.

Had the potential to be the best Nintendo console yet, in my opinion. Despite the drought of releases, I've gotten a lot of use out of the console as a youtube/crunchyroll/netflix in bed device. I greatly appreciate the free online play, and being able to play Wii games on it. I've been enjoying Sin & Punishment: Star Successor on disc and Sin & Punishment on virtual console.
The release of Fatal Frame as digital-only screwed me out of ever playing it. Also, I'm disgusted by the amount of censorship and unprofessional/unloyal localization in Nintendo's recent practices.

It's polarizing indeed. Either you love it or hate it.
Even then, people that love it started loving it in different moments. There are those that love it since the beginning and other that start loving it only far in the game.
In the end, it's what you would expect from a Platinum game made by Kamiya. Over the top action, shooting sections out of nowhere, funny characters and great boss fights.

Fast Racing NEO, which is pretty decent (my only problem is that it feels slippery to control)
Splatoon (came back to it after a whole year studying abroad. Either japs got really good or I became a shitter. Also, fuck that 96 gal nerf, the spread always mess me up. It was nice to see so many new maps and weapons included, though.

Pretty much every one I've bought except maybe Mario 3D World. It felt too easy and by the end of it I was really annoyed by the whole game. I'd love a sequel to the W101 or more MK8 DLC, but that shit won't happen, the console is dead.

That will depend entirely on what the NX is or if the NX holds any significant performance advantages over the Wii U version. I don't have a lot of interest in hand helds, so if it's some compromised hybrid i'll probably give it a miss.

I'm planning on stopping with the Wii U since it can be hacked to play Wii, GC and games from other consoles. I feel like there's so many games already disponible that it could take me a lifetime to play and enjoy them all.
Also, it saddens me to see the direction that the vidja industry in general is taking and it's has become harder for me to find games that try something completely new with their gameplay, which is a thing that always excite me to play.

Wii U version has horrendous performance issues, and looks like garbage. They imported the maps from the original game into the Wii U one, ruined the movement control scheme, and distributed powerups in a permanent progression fashion that makes the original level design make NO sense. It basically turns the game into a horrible mess of replaying stages with terrible controls and dull poorly optimized visuals, where the Wii version had beautiful levels with a semi-consistent 60 FPS and arcade score attack style of fast paced high-flying gameplay.
The Wii U and 3DS versions are a fucking travesty, shit out at the last second to appease the publishers.

You either love it or hate it. The controls take some getting used to though they work nicely once you "get it", it's kinda hard to micro-manage all your troops while you're concentrating on an enemy(Could just be me though), the ranking system is just brutal since you basically have to play something like 15+ minutes perfectly without a single mistake to get Pure Platinum(Meaning you have to get insane amounts of combos in every single encounter, you have to speedrun everything, and you have to never get hit) and the levels just take forever to finish even one of them
Thankfully it has a lot of humor, it really captures the Sentai feeling, each character is fun and you love it when a new one gets added to the roster, and all the ways you can change things up in fights is great.
You can find it for dirt cheap now and it is a good game once you get used to it.

As much as it sucks how little third party titles, the gamepad itself is pretty nifty and has some amazing features that are sadly overshadowed but some really crappy ports and bleh lineups. Some titles could have been so much better like Star Fox having my favourite gameplay but it lacked 4 more stages to make it my favourite star fox game.

If you want Wooly World but don't have the money you could always play Kirby's Epic Yarn. Epic Yarn had more memorable music and it was much much harder if you went for no-hit speed runs to keep up your badge combo, but they're both pretty much equal when it comes to fun. Wooly World is best when you're playing the secret levels though, man did I love how challenging they were to try and get all the special items scattered about properly.

Wii U, I won't get the NX until much later into its lifecycle, like every console I buy. Reason being, by this time the consoles are usually much cheaper, and also they have a nice lineup of games. Only retards buy consoles around launch.

Overall this is a terrible console for a current gen console with awful third party support. The decent 1st party support isn't nearly enough to make up for the underpowered hardware and the neglection by 3rd party. This is especially true if you are not a big fan of Nintendo's 1st party games (I only bought it for Xenoblade X).

Aiming in the Zelda remakes was great with gyro, and Fatal Frame's camera obscura added the angling feature. There's probably more shit too. I haven't play Star Fox so I can't say how that is.

Using the gyro to aim in SFZ wasn't an entirely bad idea, but the cursor moves at a bit too slow of a pace, and it doesn't quite aim at where the shot actually goes. It also feels really awkward to have the main maneuvering actions on the right stick rather than, say, the face buttons. Rolling in particular suffers from this because it feels much more awkward to double-tap the stick (especially rightward) when I remember how easy it was to just double-tap a shoulder button. I think the game feels good to play, otherwise, but I really wish it would have been more set up to allow players to aim without looking at the gamepad than it is - I can sort of gesture toward the thing I want to hit, but I'm not totally guaranteed to hit it (and maybe I would be with a few more hours of experience, but I've already beaten the game at a friend's house once, and I'm not especially willing to drop $50 just to get better at that game.

Anything Retro Studios makes is gold so I'd be down for a new DK if they chose to go that route. Mario Kart 8 is the best game in the series so I'm excited to see what 9 has to offer, and Hyrule Warriors is the most fun I've had with both a musou and Zelda in years so another update would be neat. Also interested to see what Monolith does next and if Nintendo continues to work with Platinum Games.
I hope they don't give up on Fatal Frame either. The demo I played of the Wii U installment felt weak but Nintendo doesn't really have any horror franchises, if they give it the budget it needs there's real potential there.

The gap between the Wii U and 3DS libraries is larger than past generations though. Like, the N64 and Gamecube had their issues with maintaining support too but they weren't anywhere near as bad.
It's why I wonder if Nintendo just wasn't prepared for the time and cost of modern game development after the Wii. Pushing their current projects to the NX probably didn't help either.

The difference this gen was the total lack of third parties, which was never a problem for the GC and Wii. But Nintendo always supported more their handhelds than their home consoles.

Why? I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of the series but I really like the Wii and Wii U installment controls. And I love almost everything about the new game.
What I didn't really like was the mission system (and lack of the real mission mode), it was something different and interesting to play around on Nightmare with the equipment but I hope they go back to normal again.

Its a Miiverse machine that failed as a set-top box replacement. It has a decent but small library of games. Nintendo abandoned it in favor of the 3ds and it shows.
