Going the "Mortal Kombat" route and having all the characters in an overarching story was always gonna flop. In Mortal Kombat ALL the characters are plot relevant, Street Fighter has too many random characters that don't really fit in anywhere and make the story awkward try to find a place for them.
Capcom took the wrong approachand should have just given everyone their own separate story. That would have taken too much effort though, so this is what we get instead. A lazy uninspired mess.

Yeah, I don't really know. I enjoyed the story enough for the cheese and seeing the characters interact but the story was pretty non-existent and a whole lot of characters did basically nothing.
If they wanted to do an MK story they needed an actual plot involving everyone and not being afraid to kill a few (not MK-level but so that there's some actual investment). I think the game would have been better with just an arcade mode with an animated cutscene or two per character.

Then you got Juri, who appeared multiple times and was playable three times, not like i dislike this, she's amazing eye candy and one of the few if not only female that doesn't annoy me in V.

They should have added one last fight with Necalli for Ryu and him overcoming Satsui no Hadou.
One in India where Necalli BTFO's him.
Middle one where Necalli confronts him at Kanzuki Estate and he sorta manages to hold his own.
Last one where Necalli shows up before Bison, and Ryu finally overcomes and gains power of nothingess.
It would have made Necalli more like a nemesis to Ryu, and the ending where he destroys Bison with Hadou feel more better with the build-up. Even the CG trailer shows Ryu vs Necalli in what appears to be the outside of Shadaloo base.
They should have also given increased health to some 'boss fights' and given them more V-triggers that activate from the start, instead of just giving them unfair AI that reads inputs. Would have added more impact to the fights, like the FANG fight before Bison he could have had permanent V-trigger Poison from the start, would have made you feel the urgency and FANG's desperation. Little stuff like that would have gone a long way.
