This is a fucking disgrace. This setting does not work under any circumstances, suspension of disbelief is impossible. People would sure as shit revolt against the party pushing for murder day, the economy would be in shambles from every one dying, and it won't do shit to actually stop crime on nonpurge days. And even if the retards who thought this was a good idea cheated their way into office, that wouldn't change the fact that they literally turned the place into a fourth world country, and the US would be nuked by the rest of the world as a mercy killing.
