Final Fantasy, Tactics Ogre, Disgaea, even Advance wars. What game you playing? What's your team composition? Who and what're you grinding? Whats your favorite class/ability combo?
I'm replaying FFTA2 currently, loving Baanga's qnd Seeq's. Think Trickster/Gladiator is my favorite combo, as cheesy as it is. Kind of bothers me that newly recruited members seem to be much faster and specialized than my original characters, probably due to being leveled as a single class.

Last one I played was Disgaea 5. It's not bad, but it just doesn't scratch the itch like FFT/A/A2 did. Even Onimusha Tactics hit the spot.

The only thing that has driven me nuts, is that there have never been Tactics games that are accommodating to customisation like NW or Baldurs Gate.
The closest was Knights of Lodis, but they'd always fuck you over with generic units being move turn slower, or trash stats compared to special characters.
Disgaea has the freedom, but come on, you don't exactly play it for the plot.
A2 was a pain because of the rng names.

Reviewers on average have 10 hours, so I guess I'm halfway through, or most dont finish the game.
The levels are partially randomly generated, but I'm not sure if there's an infinite level or anything at the end.

I mostly agree, and thats the main reason I dislike special characters in ffta2. I like it when a characters looks change depending on what they are. I kind of like the random names though. Ill never forget names like Sabaanti, Theodore, and Leeds.
