What if this series didn't give you the ability to lock-on to enemies?
>>343582921
It's better sometimes to not lock on though. It wouldn't make that much of a difference.
>>343582921
It would literally be hard, not meme hard.
>>343583070
>It wouldn't make that much of a difference.
I believe it would make the game a lot harder than it already is. You'd actually need skill in order to progress through the game, instead of just locking on, retreating and rolling away.
Then it would be called Kings Field
Locking on is only good for humanoid bosses.
I'd be so fucked fighting Gwynn or Artorias without it.
For giant beast type bosses locking on is a hindrance.
As long as they included another means of rolling sideways I think it wouldn't be a problem.
Have any of those faggot streamers ever done a no lock on level 1 run? Now that's something I'd actually watch.
>>343583185
How so? It's easy. The only thing I can imagine being difficult in DkS with no lock on is Gwyn.
>>343583185
> retreating and rolling away.
How does locking on enable either of those? In DS1 you can't even run away from enemies when locked on.
>>343583752
Locking on makes both of those a lot easier. Literally all you have to do is time your rolls. Doesn't help that most people playing these games for the first time are using a shields.
Easy modo.
It would be literally artificial difficult, there is no reason for it to not have lock on.
>>343582921
why
thats fucking stupid
how about playing the game without the ability to move the camera hurr
>>343583979
found the shitter
>>343583959
Disagree 100%. You need to unlock to run away properly. You cannot run away while locked on. Locking on and not locking on does not alter the actual hit boxes and timing required to dodge an attack at all either. Are you trolling?
>>343584064
But it is true
>fighting something
>cant face it as it moves
>????
>>343582921
It probably wouldn't be that bad once you get used to it. I played Dragon's Dogma in between DSII and DSIII and found that I only rarely had to lock on to enemies in DSIII whereas in DS and DSII I used it constantly.
>>343584125
No. I'm being serious. If you truly think it wouldn't make a difference, do a no lock on run and stream yourself doing it.
>>343584249
>run passed all enemies
>most bosses are easily beaten by hiding under their legs walking around to their side
Gwyn is the only challenge. If I can level up it would be easy. Only reason to do this is level 1 and fuck that.
>>343584602
>running past all the enemies
SUCH SKILL
VERY WOW
>>343584157
To be honest, if they removed lockon as a mechanic, they would be cries for enemies to be able to not do so as well.
And even with lockon, mobs have some really retarded shit.
>Heavy axe Hollow
>Winding up after you exhausted a combo with a little left to roll
>Roll to the side
>His hit animation turns to follow you like his whole body is on a swivel joint with the ground
>>343583263
You can run away from a lot of Artorias' attacks and instantly punish them if you're not locked on.
>>343584715
Never said I had to fight them. Anyway wouldn't be too bad either. Claymore running attack would hit easily. Throw on armor and Wolf ring and spam attacks. It's literally not that difficult man. I can use any jew tactics necessary to succeed. Try it yourself. All of the bosses can be defeated without locking on easily except for Gwyn. That is what they do in BLH runs. They don't lock on to most of the bosses if memory serves correctly.
>>343582921
A friend of mine played up to O&S without using lock-on once because his mouse didn't have a middle click.
>>343585149
He gave up?
>>343584940
Yeah but dodging his barrel jump roll attacks is easy when you have him locked on.
>>343585251
Everything is easier when you lock on.
>>343585149
Okay? I don't doubt it. Wouldn't be that hard. As I have said multiple times Gwyn would be the challenge.
>>343582921
There would've been just more cheap deaths
/thread
>>343585440
>cheap
ya sure, m8
>>343583551
Lobos Jr has a run where he doesn't use the right stick (so no camera adjusting or locking on), I don't think it's lv 1 though
>>343582921
it would be fine
not locking on and sprinting is how I beat flamelurker
>>343582921
people want to battle enemies, not the camera.
In the case of dark souls, camera control really shouldn't be part of the skillset required to play the game, since you're supposed to be this warrior and all the skill comes from the actual battles. If lock on is removed then suddenly this "meta" element of camera skill is involved, which is completely detached from the character
>>343585503
t. kid who only played the 4th game
>>343585149
>playing with mouse and keyboard
he sure is a trooper
>>343585356
Nah.
If you try to fight giant beast bosses that are 5 times larger than you then locking makes it harder to dodge as it keeps you in their personal space and thus you are prone to sweep attacks.
try fighting memeless king with the camera locked on
>>343586139
try fighting him at level 1 without locking on using only a strait sword.
>>343586542
it has to be the only fight where the camera is the boss itself
>people actually use the lock-on
>>343583185
wtf? its easier to play without locking on in various situations and bosses in the game.
>>343584715
Nothing about souls takes skill idiot, it's a single player game
>>343582921
>Using lock on
L M A O
>>343587176
>only multiplayer games take skill
INTENSE SHITPOSTING
>>343587176
what the fuck? If it takes no skill I guess I can just put my controller down and souls will complete itself
>>343584249
on my first time playing i didnt know lock on existed because i didnt read anything in the messages on the undead asylum.
>>343588087
Why? Why do people like you, do what they do?
>>343588205
since the first messages were about how to move the camera and how to walk i thought the other messages would be super basic things too.
