Anyone else here giving up on playing Tank? It seems like you get the most blame when things go wrong and the lowest amount of praise when things go right.
If you're a healer and you're dying a lot, it can be argued that your team is failing to protect you but a tank doesn't get that. In fact, if anyone dies it's the tank's fault for not protecting them.

learn where to position with bastion at choke points
Change positions when you have the time and option. Most people will remember where you killed them and then try to suprise kill you on that spot while letting their guard down while approching that position. Use that to your advantage
use terrain to your advantage e.g. stand slighty behind structures to shot from there but not get hooked by roadpig
every character makes footstep sounds when walking. listen to your surroundings if people come from behind
if you see people rush you, leave your position and re-position. It's better to retreat, heal back up and then hold the line than to damage the tank just to get killed

If I have to play healer, I'm playing Zenyatta. I do Lucio sometimes, mainly on KOTH, but I don't like him as much since his damage output isn't nearly as high so I'm more reliant on my teammates to kill things and they usually don't. Plus I sadly find Lucio's healing to be absolute garbage on non-KOTH maps because no one ever wants to stick with me on the objective so I'm healing 1 person at a time.

Lucio can do respectable damage, but he is far better utilized as a harasser against tougher classes. Set yourself to speed, walljump everywhere and airblast whenever possible. The airblast does damage, and it's great for keep people away from yourself or the point.

I always put my turret out in the open near the chokepoint at the start of a match and build it again if they destroy it. It lets me know how good the enemy team is and gives me time to think of a better place to put it. Also charges my ult. Besides building it again takes about 6-7 seconds.

It desperately needs a range increase, you have to be humping people for it to heal them.
I usually save it to try and counter other ultimates like Zarya and Soldier 76's, but it doesn't really work most of the time because it doesn't stop people from being spiked and they have to actually get close to me. Plus half of the time I can't react fast enough to press Q before everyone has dropped dead.

Learn when to block and when to attack. Don't be a fucking moron and think nothing gets past your shield because melees and winston will fuck you if you don't drop your shield to deal with them. Don't turn your back to get the guy behind you unless you are in cover otherwise you will get destroyed by his team. Learn to steer your charge into nooks and small places where you can trap the enemy with your body.
Learn to lead the target for your fire attack as it does great damage and goes through shields but can be hard to hit with.
Stay with your team at all times. A lone Reinhardt will just get surronded and destroyed.
Use your charge whenever you aren't blocking. His charge is insanely good and will fucking destroy concentrated pushes by knocking people around and killing a squishy.

That's because you're playing with shitters who are junkies for reinhardt's shield, and don't know how to conduct themselves without their daily hit of that delicious blue rectangle. Zarya is a great tank because she's hard as shit to kill, and either A) The enemy team is too dumb to know how dangerous she is if she's been near the front lines at all, and she fucks them up good, or B) the enemy team knows exactly how dangerous she is, focuses her as soon as she appears (giving her instant 50% charge, enough to knock them off their balance), letting the rest of your team mow them down.

Getting in people's faces and surprising them as Rein is one of the easiest ways to completely demolish a push without an ult. Being a tank isn't about sitting passive in one spot ten miles away from a good chokepoint or the payload and throwing up your hands when your shield breaks.
You whiny faggots are the reason the community is such trash. You want everyone to play the same characters, the same way, only on certain sides of certain maps at certain points.
Yeah, it's optimal to do that. No, it's not realistic. The teams you are playing against will choose dumbass shit and not give a fuck about your "balanced comp" as they steamroll your standard play asses with 6 DVa. You can't just play one fucking team against everyone and hope for them to not counter you, like you're the only one playing the game with a brain.
What can I do to make people respect Zenyatta?
Every time I play him there's always one chucklefuck who says "dude switch, zenyatta is shit." Even if I do really well, they just say "the only reason you did well is because the other team was bad."
Any one else do a Zarya and Rein combo? I get my friend to shield me when I charge in, works pretty well.

What I do on Torb is just spend my time moving between potential turret sights while supporting my team with armor and M1 and M2 shots. If my turret gets bursted down before I migrate back to it, I just set up at the other area I was at. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Symmetra is a life saver on defense. portal is 2gud, if her gun locks onto an unsuspecting enemy they're basically dead, her left click is good for eating away at a reinhardt turtle formation, and her portals let you know where they're trying to flank.

I've gotten pretty good at being able to use to to save teamates from everything but instant kills. The biggest problem is that it requires your teammates to not be idiots. More than half the time I pop it, epecially when people really need it when the enemy makes a big push, my team decides to scatter in all directions the moment I pop Q making it a bit pointless as I try to chase down teammates. Unlike Mercy's which rewards suicidal pushes or Lucio's which instantly grants a bunch of health.

the only real uses he has is his sonic arrow or whatever that allows you to see enemy placement behind walls, and his "press Q for instant POTG" ult
Even with her recent "nerfs", and accounting for how retardedly broken projectile hurtboxes are, Widowmaker still outclasses him on mobility, power and range simply because her rifle is hitscan.
His shots are useless if your enemy team has any idea how hurtboxes/projectile hitboxes work in OW and actually play against it, and his scatter arrows are extremely outclassed when compared to a junkrat M1 spamming the general area of the enemy team, or Zarya spamming her bombs.
Not to mention that at least in my experience Hanzo players are by far the most toxic in the game. They instalock as soon as possible and then endlessly bitch about how no one is going support or tank, and if someone else does crumble and go support/tank they spend endless amounts of time bitching about how no one is healing/protecting them, despite the fact that they spend the entire match running headfirst into a "three bastions and two torb turrents parked behind a reindhart" nest trying to farm their ult, only to waste it without even checking to see where the enemy has grouped up.
I don't say anything about people picking hanzo unless they're absolute dogshit (which surprise, is about 95% of the time) or complete asses who only care about boosting their hanzo playtime/K:D instead of actually trying to help the team
