What's the general opinion so far on Scorn?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvBo_rKleNw
>>
Love the giger vibe. I never really seen games pull it off. They've got the setting nailed down, but I have no idea about the level design or gameplay features.
>>
I made a thread about it 10 minutes ago and got no replies bud.
Check the catalog before you post a thread like this, otherwise /v/ is likely to assume you're a shill.

I think it looks great but I didn't hear about it outside of Easy Allies.
>>
Love me some biotech, so I'm interested.

hard to say anything since the game's not coming out for another year, and we've barely seen any gameplay. That being said, I love the looks and idea of it, so I'm slightly optimistic.

the Steam page says it's going to be a non-linear action adventure. Sounds good on paper, but we'll see how it translates.

Loving it

I'm assuming that it will majorly be a puzzle game, but I'm looking forward to the stories they're promising. Hoping it's some serious eldrich level of "you can kinda understand it barely but not really" type of deal

Hoping for some seriously disturbing but at the same time mesmerizing stuff
>>
>>343572851
Reminds me of that old as fuck comic we use to spam around here about a guy who was abducted, eaten alive everyday, regenerate himself in a pool of a strange liquid to be eaten alive again, finally totally transformed in something not human and managed to escape his personal hell, only we found out he was repeating the process in a time loop.
>>
>>343575104

>>
Looks cool but I wish they didn't announce games to early. If it's going to take another year before it releases I'll have lost all interest.
That's why I couldn't give two shits about FFXV, because they announced it so long ago and it's impossible to maintain any level of hype for that amount of time.
>>
>>343575767
In the YT channel there's this Kickstarter promo, uploaded a year ago. Here's the thing: I don't like Kickstarters, as most of the people around here. That's probably why it wasn't really that discussed around here.
>>
I've been following this game since the failed kickstarter. I actually found out about it through a banner ad on /v/.

Obviously the visual style is cool, and the way they describe the gameplay sounds fitting for the setting. I also like the developers' stances on kickstarter and episodic releases.

I have hope for this game, and I'm happy to see other people finally talking about it.
>>
>>343575950
Oh dear it's a kickstarter?
We'll probably never see it then, and one year is optimistic.
>>
>>343576054
kickstarter failed, they got funding from other source
>>
>>343576054
I think that's why they're doing two parts. If part 1 is successful, they'll make the other half of the game. That way they'll know if to invest more funds into the game

>>
>>343575950
Yeah I read their website and they talked about how it was a last resort for them and how they hated the idea of it. They get some brownie points for that in my book.
>>
>>343576345
It's just a logical guess
>>
So no kikestarter? It's allright on my book.
Style is interesting, reminds me of all those old fuck DOS games, a vibe of unsettling and mesmerizing stuff.
>>
>>343576704
>no kikestarter
Also no DLC, expansions or sequels, it will be a stand alone release.
>>
>>343576704
Yeah, they tried to make a kickstarter (even though they don't like kickstarter), but it ended up doing so bad that they cancelled it before the 30 days were up. They said the game was dead and would never happen. But then a few months later, they randomly tweeted that they had acquired funding for the game and would release it in 2017.
>>
>>343576345
It's more the fact that they are poor as fuck, so they have to wait for good sales of the first part and then finish the second part.

That also means it will have a niche group of fans doing OC around here loving the living shit out of the game, sell in a mediocre way, be under heavy sale on steam and then get picked up by redditors saying they liked it all the time / it's not as good as everyone say.

The "E.Y.E." effect. All over again.

This shit bothers me so much I probably wouldn't even be able to watch the goddamned thing. It's disturbing.

Hope it ends up good nonetheless. Ain't touching that shit with a 10ft pole tho.

Nope.
>>
It really just fills me with questions being presented with pretty much nothing but scenery. Is this environment supposed to look normal to the player character? Like, is this rampant use of biotechnology normal to them? When you get to the point in your civilization that everything can be grown without the need for a ton of machines or extra resources, would it look this disturbing just by virtue of biological expression? Is the main character even from the civilization that built the area they are exploring? Is it supposed to look that way normally or are the biological structures and machines sick in some way? Honestly I might be most interested in the game if these things are promised to be explained within the exploration aspect of the game.

Naw son, not everything would be hell.
Being part of the environment? Sure, that'd be lame, but having living clothing and operating biological equipment by having it merge with your neural net, your flesh entwining with its.

Pretty sweet deal if ya ask me.
>>
>>343587684
It would be nice if they manage to make it feel meaty, fleshy and moist. Since the guns seem to be living creatures that I assume will shot various types of liquids or maybe plasma.
This sounds more sexual than I anticipated, and I don't know if adding plasma made it more or less sexual.

are two examples of his work, and then there's a bunch more here: http://imgur.com/a/eiNBs

David Cronenberg is well known for his weird body horror films, like Existenz, Videodrome, and the 1980s version of The Fly.

You can see Beksinski's influence pretty clearly in some of the game's designs and concept art, especially >>343585820

You can also see Cronenberg's influence to a lesser extent, for example the organic gun shown in the game's trailer looks similar to the flesh gun from Existenz.

>>
>>343572851
Just showed the trailer to my brother, he said

"so, what, you're an aborted fetus trying to escape aborted fetus hell? or something?"

It's safe to say I've got a good impression.
>>
Let me know when there's some actual gameplay
>>
I'm kind of curious where they're going with this exactly.

What's going to be the story?
>>
>>343591340
kek
>>
>>343593441

Except the devs are Serbs and we're a fairly shitty country, with low as fuck paychecks, while the prices more often than not keep rising up to the equal of their western counterparts. Not to mention, we have this ridiculous tax on PC parts that can double, or even triple, the price.
>>

Bought E.Y.E in day 1 and been shilling it ever since.
/v/ only talks about ut since the sales where it was at 5 bucks.
I fucking hate this place.

Too hard to tell these days. Just take it at face value.

Setting looks good but need to see gameplay.

Quality thread overall.

I don't do well with horror games at all, usually I get so upset I quit 10 minutes in.

But when I watched this trailer for the first time I was so deeply disturbed but intrigued at the same time, like I HAVE to know what kind of fucked up things I'd see if I keep watching.
Perhaps some odd forms or somber tapestries.

Either way I am interested, don't even care about the gameplay just want to see more creepy stuff.

While I'm optimistic about this game and I'm going to buy it when it comes out. I really wish someone would make a purely "Giger-ish" aesthetics inspired game, (yes I know about DarkSeed). Something like a exploration - walking simulator game where you get to explore gigantic alien ruins or spaceships like pic related.

The closets thing we have right know are the last levels of alien trilogy, the Derelict chapter in Alien Isolation and the CM version.
>>
>>343615705

Is Alien Isolation actually any good or just jump scares?
>>
>>343616353

p. decent.
>>
>>343616353
Is good, jump scares are keep at minimum because most of the horror is done by the adapting and "intelligent" ai controlling the Alien.

HOWEVER...

as much I fucking love that game I have to admit that sometimes having the fucking rape nigger from space breathing down your neck all the time becomes frustrating.

but is a solid game that you should play, shame it most likely will never get a sequel.

Faggot mod deleted Berserk game thread because he thought it was about animu.

Will a faggot mod delete a Scorn thread because he thinks it's about paintings?

>Scorn is an atmospheric first person horror adventure currently in development by Ebb Software studio. Release date 2017.
>describing your own game as atmospheric

I will bet a sum of money that it turns out to be shit.
>>
Never heard of it OP. Always a fan of the horrific merging of tech/flesh though. Gonna keep an eye on it.
>>
>>343618725
I just dont trust myself. I'll forget about it and never get to play it.

Also, this looks too good to be Real. I fear it will never be released

>becomes frustrating
I think a better word would be overbearing.
The stress of this murderous beast ever at your back just builds and builds and builds, which feels horrible, but I think that's also the point.

I can't even begin to imagine how that would feel in real life.
>>
>>343619476
Atmospheric means they'll put effort into the level design, but neglect the part where you actually have to play the damn game.
>>
>>343620262
And also neglect the parts of level design that matter. It'll be a mess.
>>
>>343620262
>>343620303
dark souls is plenty atmospheric yet retains great level design
>>
>>343620376
>giant elevators everywhere
>good level design

Sure thing, buddy. It's also not described as an "atmospheric first person horror adventure"
>>
>>343620262
>>343620303
Judging by the first trailer it will be, primarily, a puzzle game, and puzzle games tend to be have great atmospherics, or at least a level design suitable for the environments that you will have to interact.
>>
>>343620454
name a game with good level design then
>>
>>343620506
There are no game with good level design.
>>
>>343620594
at least none you know of right
>>
>>343572851
mate, I come here every day, and so I am seeing the threads you make

just admit you are a member of the dev team/shill, because honesty goes much further than posting the same threads 3 times a day and hoping no one notices
if you just said "here is a game I am working on with people, thoughts?", it wouldn't feel like you're trying to trick us into being interested in the game, and makes me respect you more

that said, I think it looks cool, but need actual full on gameplay to have a real comment
>>
>>343620627
I know all the games.
>>
>>343572851
I don't like horror games, but this one I want to try.

you don't even know what either of these mean for the game
>>
>>343622268
Probably means that the developers are asshats
>>
>>343622685
Nah, more like the fact that this kind of games don't sell, and it's worse when the aesthetics of the game is appealing only to a very small niche.
Pretty much they failed to gain the attention of people in the Kickstarter and I don't think Sony wanted to risk money in a product like this.
>>
>>343572851
hopefully it's a DOOM 4 clone and has actual fast paced action
>>
>>343623383
Yeah, no, you missed the intent entirely.
Going to take your comment as written, not sarcasm.
It's far more likely to be an exploration/survival/puzzle game like Cradle.

Man I wish the biomechanical parts of Half Life 2 were more fleshed out. The combine dropships and gunships had really cool animal designs, but they didn't go that far with it.

No, thank you. I really want to enjoy the setting.
>>
>>343625619
There is a hiant vaginal game with dozens of phallic pillars leading up to it at the end
>>
>>343605124
looks pretty shitty compared to Giger and Scorn
>>
>>343622685
Sony probably didn't want it because it isn't "cinematic" enough
